~Raven's POV~

For as long as I can remember, my brother, James, and I have been living lonely lives as Dark Angels. He became King after my parents died. Before you ask, yes, I am the princess of the Dark Angels. And on my 18th birthday, I had to get married.

"Raven! Raven!"

My brother was calling. I was too busy reading books about earth, a planet I have and never will get to visit. But hey. I can always dream.

"Raven, I've been calling you for hours! What have you-ah." He noticed I'd been reading again.

"I knew you would find me," I said. "That's why I didn't bother coming." I turned to face him.

"Raven, you're so much like mother it kills me every time I see you." He said grabbing my hands.

"Yes well, I don't enjoy living a life in confinement, James."

He sighed and released my hands putting one hand on my shoulder. "You know full why I can't let you leave."

I nodded and hugged him.

"There's someone downstairs I want you to meet."

I looked up. "Who?"

"You'll see."

He took my hand and we walked downstairs to our throne room.

A well-built, older than me by a few years, and very serious looking man was standing in the center wearing black armor and his black feathery wings standing tall.

"General Toran." James said.

The general turned and bowed. "Your highness. Princess."

"General." I kept my head held high.

"Raven you will be marrying General Toran on your 18th birthday." James said.

Obviously I didn't get the news flash.

"Excuse me for my rudeness, but why? I barely know him."

"It's part of being who you are Raven. And our kingdom needs someone like General Toran to lead when I no longer can."

I excused myself and walked to my room.

I heard James following me.

"Raven! That was quite rude!"

"I'm sorry James. But I don't know that man and I refuse to marry him."

"Well you have to. Father and mother would be devastated if you didn't."

I sighed. "They always said follow your heart. This is not following their advice."

James groaned. "You're marrying General Toran and that's final!" He stormed out angrily.

I am going to do something no dark angel ever dare to do.

I'm going to Earth.

I grabbed a piece of parchment and a pen and wrote this to James:

My dear brother,

The life you have given me here was wonderful but I cannot marry someone unknown for I am only a young girl with a long life ahead of her. That is why I am going to Earth to find answers. To learn about new things. To create a better life. I am truly sorry, but it's my destiny. I love you dearly, and hate to leave you, but I must.

Love the princess,

Raven

I left the paper on my door so if he looked for me he would find it quickly.

I unfolded my black feathery wings and grabbed my bag with my close belongings and my cloak. Then I flew out of the window all the way to earth.

~James's POV~

I cannot believe my sister would behave like this.

It is so unlike her.

"Your highness, maybe you should try to get her back out here." General Toran suggested.

"You're right. I'll be back quickly." I rushed up to Raven's room and found a note taped to her door. I read it and opened her door seeing Raven gone.

I was so furious. I rushed downstairs.

"General Toran."

"Yes your highness?"

"Get your guards together. We are going to earth." I'm getting my little sister back.
