(Isabella's view)

I sit on my bed, twirling my long, black, wavy hair. School books scattered all over the floor of my room, homework on my desk, waiting to be finished by yours truly.

"Isabella!" mum yells from downstairs, making me jump out of my skin.

"Coming!" I yell as I hop off my bed, sighing.

I run down the narrow hallway and down the wooden staircase to find mum standing, arms crossed at the bottom of the stairs.

"I have excellent news, sweetheart," mum says cheerfully, her brown eyes glistening

What's this news?

"I've been transferred to work at Smithford," she says with a smile, her dimples forming on either side of her face. "We will be moving house tomorrow. You better start packing."

How on earth is this excellent news? I don't have time to say goodbye to my friends? No time to tell the school I'm leaving? This is just awesome. Great.

"How long did you know about all this? What is going to happen to this house? Is the new house rent or do we own it? Why Smithford?" I sway back and forth on my heels, my heart beating fast.

"Slow down there darling. My boss told me about the transfer four months ago. The house will be sold when a buyer is interested. This house we will be living in will be ours so it is not rent. Smithford is a great town and is where my work is now," she says calmly, her eyes bored as she rolls her eyes.

"Mum, did you not watch the news last night? Did you not hear what they said about Smithford?" My voice rising, high pitch as my eyes wide as my hands make actions. "This town is notorious. It is creepy. People are mysteriously getting murdered an-"

"No, it is a lovely neighbourhood darling. Go pack, now!" Mum demands, her arms folded across her chest as her lips form a thin line.

Why does mum have to be like this? What's so good about this place?!

I sigh and roll my eyes as I turn around and run up the stairs and back down the narrow hallway with my shattered heart dragging along the floor. Upon reaching my room, five doors down, I pull my laptop out of my schoolbag and switch it on.

I know what I heard about this place. That town has something off about it. I don't want to go.

As I make my search, I find various news articles. Each one verifies my thoughts, revealing the murders of innocent people and the blame being put on the wild animals. I open a report from Tribunal daily.
