Over the course of the next couple hours, I had told her almost everything I could, purposely leaving out the parts about her mother. She had many questions, but I could only answer so many. With each passing hour my heart broke a little more for dumping all of this on her. I loved her. I really did but I couldn't keep this life a secret from her especially not now when she is a part of us.

Silence filled the air, and I had no idea what to say next. My mind was blank, my stomach empty. The sun had begun to set, the orange and pink hues lit up the curtains and sky. The humans would always take photos of the sunset. I've seen so many sunsets that it bores me now. I don't understand what was so majestic about it. Same story with the sunrise.

My younger days were filled with laughter and joy until I hit fifty years old and still looking like I was 18. It all became boring. I knew my life wasn't the same and won't ever be. I had lost my joy in life now all I wanted was peace and silence. My family had always nagged me to find a woman. Find a soulmate. Find a lover. But it wasn't as easy as they thought it was. I couldn't just pick any random woman to be mine. It didn't work like that. Humans were born, lived, aged and died yet here I was still alive, never dying.

Isabella was perfect. She had it all, beauty, looks, power, strength, kindness, intelligence. She knew exactly what she wanted meanwhile I had no redeeming qualities except for the fact I lived on forever and never aged. I was smart in some sense, yes, but not as smart as my parents. I was a good fighter, yes, but there were better.

"This is our secret from the humans," I said finally. "You can't leave just yet. Not until we know how to help you."

She looked at me blankly. I knew what she was thinking. She probably thought I was treating her like a little child but in fact, she was. In Vaewolf's age she was just a baby starting out, finding her way around the world. We needed to find the only existing vaewolf and fast. He was the only one who knew how to help.

"There is someone like your specie. He is older but the only one of your kind aside from you," I state dully. "We'll set out tomorrow to find him. Stay here in the meantime." I got up and left the room. My head hurt as the headache set in. I should have had my meal last night. My stomach rumbled and I leaned against the door.

"How did it go?" Vienna said next to me, scaring the daylights out of me.

I paused for a moment. "Terrible."

"Why?" she asked. "Did she want to leave?"

"I feel so bad for dumping all of this on her. She was silent for the most part. She's probably still processing it. I told her she couldn't leave just yet until we find that ex of yours."

"My—What! Mark, have you lost your mind?! No way in hell are we going to do that!" Vienna argued.

"Keep your stupid voice down. We are doing it and if you don't want to come with me, I'm going to do this myself." I sighed and walked down the dark hallway. It was so typical of her to do this. Weather she likes it or not, I'm doing it.

If we don't help Isabella, she will go rogue and then our cover will be blown. The mortals will kill her and then they will hunt for the rest of us and I can't have that. Not yet.

"I'm going to go hunting. I need something in my system. The war is coming tomorrow so we need to be prepared," I said finally.

Vienna didn't say a word as I walked away in the opposite direct. Her eyes burnt into my back as I turned the corner and glided down the stairs with ease. It was much faster when I didn't have someone complaining about the length of stairs next to me. The darkness didn't really bother me but I already knew exactly where everything was, how the furniture was laid out and everyone knew I hated when things moved from their usual spots, so no one dared to test me.
