The Truth Beneath The Surface

Uh, I know that a lot of these poems have to do with love. This isn't meant to be a book of "love poems" because I know not everyone can relate. Then again not everyone will relate regardless and it's my bloody book and I can do as I see fit. But I know that a lot of y'all's pain doesn't come from being in love. Actually a lot of my pain doesn't either, but I only write when I feel inspired, and to be honest in my life right now I'm heavily affected by love, so, um, there will be more poems not about love, so bare with me through this little tangent.
-----------------------------------------------------

I love you,
Like the moon loves the sun,
Because you shine light upon my darkness,
And when death comes for you,
He will come for me too,
Because there is no me,
Without you.

In the darkness,
I shall survive,
Because I have you by my side,
Shining your light,
Onto a dusty path,
And together we will walk,
You need not be afraid,
Because darkness is where I reside,
And as long as I am here,
You shall not be harmed.

Two sides of a coin,
That which was older than even time,
Light and dark,
Both have existed for all of eternity,
Before the past,
And after the future,
There will always be light and dark,
One cannot exist without the other,
Much like you and me.

I am the shadow,
I am the cold,
I am the night,
My soul is black,
You are so bright,
Golden and bathed in sunlight,
So beautiful and warm to the touch,
How could you love someone like me?

I am so captivated by you,
You envelope all my senses,
All I see is you,
All I hear is you,
All I smell is you,
All I feel is you,
All I speak...

Darkness,
Pain,
Fear,
Death,
This is what I know,
This is what I am,
Not only do I feel these things,
I give them to others,
You are unchanged though,
I do not understand,
Because you changed me,
Didn't you?

No,
No I am still darkness,
I will never be anything different,
You may consume me,
But I am still me,
I am still black,
And for that I love you even more,
They have tried to change me before,
But they are only absorbed,
By my cold heart,
You, though, leave me be,
You walk beside me,
Not in front,
Or behind,
But beside me,
Neither lead the way,
We just walk,
Together,
But separate,
You allow me to be what I am,
As I do for you,
Because I could not love anyone but you,
I assume you feel the same.

You have afflicted me,
I have allowed you to do so,
There is a warmth within me,
I feel it so clearly,
It is a sign,
That I can go on if you leave,
I feel the same within you,
A cold,
I see in your eyes,
That you are sad,
Something I haven't seen before,
You now know,
There is a possibility,
However small it may be,
That one of us will live on,
While the other parishes,
If this happens,
Unfortunately, I know it will,
It will be me who lives on,
And live on I shall,
In your name I will carry a torch,
I will continue to walk,
Down this dusty path,
I will carry you with me always,
But you should know,
That I will only leave behind,
What is left of me,
Which will be,
Darkness,
Pain,
Fear,
Death,
And nothing more or less.
