Inside Many Minds Part One

You are weak, worthless, a child. No one loves you. You should be dead. No one as TERRIBLE, WORTHLESS, or DEADLY should be a hero. You kill everyone that gets in ten feet if you. Dick comes up to me and slaps me over and over again.

I shot up and tears were falling from my face. Kaldur was in the room with me and pulled me close to him. I felt his warm chest and he said, "What was it about?" I didn't answer then he said, "Skylar I can feel that your crying." "Nothing it's fine I'm fine." "No you are not you need to talk this out." "I have been thinking that's all." "Thinking does not bring nightmares." I got up and walked to the kitchen. Why did Conner, M'gann, and Artemis have to go on a mission? I heard Wally and Kaldur come this way so I grab four cups and wipe my face. When they came in I said, "Anyone want some hot coco?" Dick came out of his hiding place and said, "Is there any cinnamon?" "I think I know where M'gann is hiding it." Wally sits down and Kaldur said, "What's the cinnamon for." Wally said, "That's the weird way they drink it." I roll my eyes and start to fix it I say, "Other then me and Dick anyone want some cinnamon in their hot coco." Once they say no I give them theirs and find the cinnamon, once found I put some in the drinks and give one to D. Then Dick says, "Now did you have another nightmare?" "What gave me away?" "The fact you made coco." "Yeah the same one." "I think it was that thing that happened on a mission a few weeks ago. And you have to sleep Sky, this nightmare thing is almost as bad as my ..." Kaldur said, "What happened a few weeks ago?" I looked at Dick and he said, "We were fighting Freeze, Bane, and the Riddler and when Batman wasn't looking Sky got hit some sort of ray and ever since then she has been having nightmares and can't sleep after that." I look at my phone and say, "The sun will come up in a few hours you all should go back to sleep. I can keep myself entertained until then." Wally yawns and then says, "Fine but I still want to know what's wrong with my little sister." "Even though we are like family please don't call me that."

I watch the sun come up and as soon as I am walking back into the cave the rest of the team come back and the boys wake up. We go to doing what we normally do. Wally and D playing video games, Artemis and Kaldur reading, M'gann and Conner talking, and that leaves me to my thoughts and all the terrible things that haunt my mind. When we all get bored our mentors and Black Cannery come in. Great now what is going on. Batman said something about another team building exercise so I think this will be bad again. When I hear him say, "... the team and the leaguers in this room will be going into your minds to know more about each other..." I look at Dick. He said, "What if some of us don't want anyone in their minds?" "Dick you and Skylar already told them your identities it ok for them to know about your past." I say, "And what if we are scared to let anyone in our mind because of our past." "It will be fine you could get the help you need this way." I look at the floor and try to clear my mind. When we all lay down on tables we enter someone's mind.

I see the batcave and as soon as I do I know who's mind we are in. "You always have to start and in with a bat don't you J'ohn." Everyone jumped and I said, "Dick stop playing games and lead us to the center of your mind so we can get out of here." "Even inside my mind you are no fun Skylar. Enjoy watching our parents death again in the island of memories." I close my eyes and we started walking. "Welcome to the mirrors of hopes and dreams." They look at all of his dreams when I stop at one. "Guys look at this." You can see Dick killing Tony Zuco. Then he came towards me with a knife in his hand. Once the image was over I said, "Dick how long have been thinking about killing me?" "Five years now, but you were not supposed to see that." We kept walking and I stop when he says the island of memories. The first showed our parents death I walked past all of them as fast as possible and once I was out I hear Flash say, "What is wrong with her?" "She knows every memory in here is bad and she knows how it happened. And she does not want to see it again." Bruce said looking at the next memory. I was almost crying when they came out. We were soon at the center of his mind and we got out before anything bad happened. We all sat up and I went to slam my hand on a wall. I walked outside to calm down a little then I heard Barry call my name. I turn around and he said, "Skylar you can get help with all the terror in your life in fact Black Canary and I have volunteered to help you and your brother." "Barry are you done?" "Yeah." "Good. I don't need help from either of you, my friends have been helping me get over and take control of somethings. So you can forget it." I realize I am being watched after I said that. I look at the leaguers behind them and then the team behind them and I walk away after that.

Dick's POV

When Sky is back we get started again. We in M'gann's, Conner's, Artemis', Wally's, and Kaldur's minds but we stopped before we got to Skylar the adults talked and so did we. Artemis said, "Why do we have to stop before we go into Sky's mind?" Skylar said, "He knows I don't want anyone in my mind. My mind is also very dangerous and unstable once you are in it you won't be able to get out. All you can do is watch all of the horror get bigger and bigger." "Just because that is what you see doesn't mean Bruce wants in it. He has to get in it our that's what he thinks." The adults called us back to talk and J'ohn said, "Skylar I'm sorry but we can't do what we talked about everyone is going inside. But we are waiting until tomorrow. So for you try to get a good night sleep and we will try it tomorrow if possible." She shook her head and we were dismissed. I watched her the rest of the day. For once she is acting like she is scared of a training exercise.
