Chapter 19

"Jack I..."

"Iris wait." Jack interrupts me, "I think I know what you're about to say, I mean, I'm not positive but I think I know... and I just want to tell you that I'm completely okay with whatever you're going to tell me."

I look down at my lap, avoiding eye contact with him.

"I-I'm in love with Marcus" I blurt out as quickly as I can, "I think I have been for a long time, but I've never actually noticed, or well.. I guess I tried to push it to the back of my head. I thought I felt that way about you, but now I realize that I love you but I was never in love with you. I'm so sorry, I know I made a promise to never leave you, especially for him. But I just can't control the way I feel for him, I'm such a horrible person and I thought I could fight my feelings for Marcus, but then Niomi broke up with him and I noticed how happy that made me, I realized that I'm in love with him Jack." I finish with a sob.

After a few moments of silence, I look up to Jack to see him chuckling. Like he found something amusing.

"Why are you laughing?"

He bursts into laughter, startling me.

"I-I'm sorry, i-it's just tha-at" he wipes at a tear from laughter which just escaped his eye, "Basically, the exact same thing is happening to me."

I look at him, confused.

What does he mean?

"You look confused," he points out, I nod, "well I guess I'll explain it to you... Uh, you remember Alex, right?"

I nod, Alex was his girlfriend before me, he was actually cheating on her with me.

"Well, after I broke it off with her, she moved all the way to Australia. She says that she wanted a new start. Anyway, she came back a few weeks ago to visit her mum and I bumped into her when I went to get a coffee. So we decided to have a seat and chat about our lives... the more I talked to her, the more feelings I regained. It almost felt that those feelings never left you know? like I hid them away, what you did with your feelings for Marcus."

I can't help but feel happy for Jack, I mean I know that I should probably feel some hurt seeing as he's telling me that he's had feelings for another girl for a while now but if I were to get angry at him for that, it would make me a hypocrite, I have done the exact same thing after all.

"So this is it huh? our lovely relationship has come to its end." I always thought that break ups were meant to be heart breaking but this seemed quite joyful...

"For now, yes." Jack confirmed for me, "but you never know what the future holds, right now we're not whats best for each other but in a few years time, we could be the perfect match. I still love you Iris..."

"And I love you Jack." I scoot closer to him and wrap my arms around his neck in a tight embrace. "I couldn't have asked for a better boyfriend."

"And you were a brilliant girlfriend" he gives my waist a light squeeze, "now go get Marcus."

We both pull away from the embrace and I stand up quickly. "Thank you Jack."

I give him one last hug before rushing out of the house, towards my car.

I pull up in front of Marcus' house, what am I meant to say? How will he react?

Am I too late? Does he still love me?

So many questions are circling in my head as I make my way to his front door.

I need to stop over thinking things or I'll back out.

I bring my knuckle up to the door and give it a few knocks.

I wait a few seconds and... nothing.

I continue to knock until I hear footsteps coming towards the door. All negative thoughts wash away when I see Marcus open the door with bed hair and sleepy eyes.

"Iris? what are you doing her-" I cut him off by pressing my lips firmly onto his, he quickly responds and I pull away, my arms wrapped around his neck. "I think I'm in love with you Marcus"

"You have no idea how long I've wanted to hear you say that"

He presses his lips onto mine without a care in the world and I know I've made the right choice.

Sorry for the late upload but I hope you are happy with this chapter!

I kind of wanted her to stay with Jack because he's so cute and so are Marcus and Niomi but so many people wanted Iris to be with Marcus and I actually like them together. :)

I'm considering maybe writing a sequel to this so yeah, tell me what you think about that in the comments. :)
