For my Introduction to Broadcasting, everyone in both broadcasting classes has to do the Poetry Slam. This is what I wrote.

I know I'm just as beautiful as you say I'm ugly.

I know I'm just as strong as you say I'm weak.

I know I'm just as brave as you as I'm a coward.

I know I'm just as smart as you say I'm stupid.

You judge me by the way I act,

By the way I look,

By the way I walk, talk, sing, dance.

You judge me off if my scar.

You judge him off of his friends,

You judge her off of her clothes.

You judge everyone everyone because they don't act, look, walk, talk, sing, dance like.... you.

You judge and make fun of others because it makes you fell better about yourself and your life.

I know your just as kind as you act mean.

I know your just as smart as you act dumb,

I know your just as caring as you act like you don't care.

I know, that the way you are, is just an act.

I see something great in your heart,

But others have torn you apart.

That's why you put on your mask

And begin you act.

You put on a smile, fake a laugh,

But you know it's just a mask.

I see right through it, because

I too, have a mask.

Everyone has a mask for someone,

Or something.

It's ok to have a mask,

But don't let that mask always

Define who you are.

I know, that we can be ourselves.
