Life aboard a space cruiser seems pretty cool at first. All the technology, all the cool, shiny corridors, but after a while it gets pretty old. Every window shows the same thing, nothing. We have little entertainment aboard, and the only reason we have any is for my luxury. Honestly I don't know how anyone on the other cruisers survive through this boredom.
Walking through the seemingly endless hallway to the bridge in itself seemed like a chore, I can't imagine how the pilots must feel running to the hangars during an emergency.
"We've linked up with the rest of the fleet, Huntington" Rose reported in her sweet, soft-spoken voice. Her beautiful pink hair flowed down from her cat ears to her captain's uniform. All Kesk aboard the cruisers where a color coded uniform dependent on their role aboard the fleet. All uniforms are primarily white, with stripes going down and across them. Red stripes meant someone was a captain, blue signified pilots, green was for anyone working in the bridge or the cruisers turrets, and black was for anyone aboard that worked as engineers or janitors.
Rose was the queen of all the Cahtans, making her one rank below me in terms of commanding the tribe. Each tribe has one queen, which *should* listen to the ruler of the Kesk, but ever since this civil war started, none of the queens have really listened to any of my predecessors.
"Okay good, once we can boost our communications signal, see if you can get in touch with the tribe leader of the Medhog." The Medhog are a tribe of Kesk that, unlike the Cahtans, have rabbit-like ears and tails. For the last couple of decades now the Kesk have been going through a civil war, leaving themselves vulnerable for the Covenant to strike them at any time.
Looking out the window I saw two dozen cruisers in the orbit of the planet Jouter, the main base of operations for the Medhog. Eyeing the cruisers carefully, I noticed all the turrets were pointed towards our fleet, at any given moment they could easily demolish the eight good cruisers we had. "Why haven't they been opening fire? I would of figured they would have opened fire the moment they saw a Cahtan fleet." I asked Rose.
"They see the royal markings on our fleet, our tribes may be in a civil war, but Kesk don't kill royalty. You are our leader, and we will serve your command until our death, that is the Kesk code." Pretty ironic considering it was them that rebelled in the first place.
Before I had time to think of a response, a green stripped woman with light pink hair, deep purple eyes, and one stern look came up and interrupted our talk. "We are linked in with Jouter's communications link. Queen Sora wishes to have an audience with you sir."
I sat back for a minute, thinking of what I should say to this queen. If we wish to defeat the Central Covenant we are going to need all the help we can get, we need to reunite the Kesk tribes to have any hope. "Bring us down to the planet."

The world appeared to grow significantly larger the closer we drew towards it. Unable to bring an entire cruiser to the planet, we boarded a class C transport shuttle, capable of fitting me a small squad of personal guards.
