Chapter 23

23. The Question.

She was gonna stay.

I ran and ran until I was at the doorstep of the Emergency Ward of the local clinic. The nurse who was at the door saw us and immediately ran and brought a stretcher. He was also accompanied by two other nurses.

They took her in and I stood there. Alone. The wind, the cold, nothing bothered me anymore. That was the moment I came into realization.

It was her. It was all her.

Tears, happiness, anger, possessiveness, jealousy. It was all her. It was all for that geek who still waited for her Hogwarts letter to come.

Time never made me realize that she started to grow on me.

I walked home. I didn't cry. Because the last time I cried I lost him. He told me not to cry. I still cried. And I lost him. It was not going to happen again.

I was back at the dorm within almost 25 minutes. I got into the dorm and just plopped down on to the beanbag. Texts were overloading my phone's memory.

Hayes where are you?
Bro why aren't you at the party...
Your last call has left you with 17.35....
'Instagram' has been updated...
Haysey boo where are you baby?....

I was numb. I couldn't move. Was it my fault? It must've been my fault. I was the rude one. I shouldn't have done it. What if she goes like he did.....

I knew it wasn't my fault but I couldn't stop blaming myself. What have I done?

- Two Days Later -
I went to the hospital to check on S.

"Sir May I please know who you are of um....Sammy..Cooper?"

"Oh um..sure. I'm her roommate. We live in the same dorm."

"Sir you might have to fill up this form with your details and preferably the patient's too."

"Yeah okay sure."

Her supposedly friends did stayed her the other days. The brunette girl was staying with S for the first night, when she was still unconscious and the guy for the second, which was by the time she woke up. I didn't get out of the dorm for two days. I was just completely shut down.

The only two things I really wanted right now was to see her eyes open and to know what happened that day.

I slowly opened the ward door and stepped in. From the news I got she did wake up but she did lose a lot of blood so she was exhausted.

"Sammy?.." I hushed slowly.

Suddenly, I felt a pull on my hand dragging me outside the door.

It was the brunette and that guy. Sammy's friends I suppose.

"Hayes right?". The guy asked me.

"Yeah? What happened?."

"We need to tell you something. It's pretty serious."

"What is it?"

Suddenly we heard a soft call from the room.

"Is anyone there?". It was Sammy. We opened the door and got in. As we got in, The guy who I guess is Max, walked towards her. She held his hand and interwove her fingers with his.

And then, she asked the question. The unexpected.

"Max, who are these people?"
