CHAPTER 7

Pauwi na si Cha when her phone beeped. Akala pa naman niya si Ben na ang ngtxt. It was Carlo. “HI. Lunchtime na, late nagwork out kase”. Napakunot noo si Cha. She thought na naerase na niya yung lunch message ni Carlo. Oh well sadyang may pagkakulit pala si Carlo Torres.

Napatingin siya sa bahay ng mga Ilustre as she passed there. Weird hindi pa magpaparamdam si Benedict. Sobrang haba na ng tulog nito. Hindi si Ben ang tipo ng tao magbababad maghapon sa kama. Her brain and her heart were arguing whether she should text him or not. The truth is, she was somehow hurt but what Aria told her. She knows that Aria meant well, gusto lang naman ni Aria iparealize sa kanya *** weight ng mga bagay na ginagawa niya. So she decided not to text Ben. May be she needed time away from him. For now that’s what she need. To entertain Carlo is yet another story. Uncertain of what will happen next with her decision she chose not to reach for Benedict. She fought the urge na lumipat sa bahay nito para narin makipagkuentuhan sa mommy nito.

Benedict was playing wii and was waiting for Cha’s reply. Hanggang sa mapansin niyang oras na pala for his basketball practice. He joined a summer league dahil na rin sa pag-aya ng younger Brother ni Julia na si John. Ganado siya nuon na sumali. Julia said she will be the team’s muse and ofcourse siya daw ang escort. He never liked the limelight, even as he played basketball hindi naman niya pansin ang mga girls na nagtitilian when he plays. He just chooses to play well.But being with Julia and be his escort. Well that was another story! Nagmadali siyang ayusin ang backpack niya for the practice. Wala na siyang chance na puntahan pa si Cha para isama ito. Gustong-gusto kase nito sumasama sa practice at games niya. Minsan para pang stage mother or girlfriend kung makatili. He chuckled at the thought “girlfriend” why did he think of that?

Gulat si Benedict nang Makita si Julia sa practice nila. Its not excitement. Plain gulat lang.

B: You’re here? You never go to basketball practice?

J: super bored na kase ako sa bahay so I decided na lumabas, sabe kase ni John may practice kayo kaya hinatid ko na siya. I was wondering if you wanted coffee or pizza after the practice?

Benedict smiled at Julia’s invitation. Oh well bakit naman hindi.

B: you sure you’ll wait after the practice?

J: oo naman bakit hindi…para naman ma-inspire kayo sa practice. Doon na muna ako. 

Julia pointed to the bleachers as she watched thebasketball practice. After 2 hours light practice nad-g-decide si Julia na sa Krispy kreme nalang magpunta. Napangiti si Benedict. Bigla nya lang namiss si Chandria. Favorite kase ni chandria ang doughnuts. Then he burst into laughter…ano bang nangyayari sa kanya?

J: something wrong? Ayaw mo ng doughnuts?

B: oh no, doughnuts are fine. Treat ko na to ano gusto mo?

Nagmamadali si Benedict habang mukhang pinapatagal naman ni Julia ang pagkain. Animated pa to sa pagkukuento ng mga :”exciting” na happenings that he missed daw because he legft agad the night they went clubbing. His mind wasn’t even with Julia. Naalala na naman niya yung panaginip niya. This time he is sure. That dream was his awakening. 

B: Jules nagtxt na mommy ko, I need to go. 

J: ha? Aga pa naman wala pang 7…

B: oh kase dapat sabay kame magdinner ni mommy so sensya ka na I really need to go,

J: mama’s boy ka pala? 

B: you can say that. Thanks for the time ha I need to go.

J: ok fine. Bye.

Nagmamadali umuwi si Benedict pero hindi naman sa bahay nila siya tumuloy sa bahay ng mga Tan dala ang doughnuts for Cha. Dinatnan nya tong may kausap sa phone.
