PLEASE NOTE THAT SUMMERTIME OF OUR LIVES NEVER EXISTED UNTIL NOW IN THIS STORY!!

"I didn't expect you to say yes," Mum brags after dinner that night as we clear the table.
"Neither did I," Cody says. Mum let him stay for dinner after my father left.
"I didn't either," I say, "but I figured it couldn't hurt."
"It might," Mum says, "but then again, it was your opinion that counted."
I smile. "I'm just so glad I'll have you guys with me," I say.
Cody frowns, almost as if something's wrong. Then I remember that he has to go on tour soon.
"At least for a little while," I add, a slight sadness in my voice.
Cody and I help Mum with the washing up, barely talking to each other. I think we need to have a good heart-to-heart chat.
When Mum sends us off, I lead Cody up to my bedroom and close the door.
Cody walks over to the window and states out of it. "Listen, Jess," he begins, "I really don't want to do this."
I stand near the door and state at his back. "I... I..." I can't finish my sentence.
Cody turns around and walks toward me. Wrapping his arms around me, he says, "Don't finish. You don't need to say it."
I cry a little. Cody's been amazing and we only met a few days ago.
Cody and I hold our embrace for several minutes until he sits me down on the bed. "Come on tour with me," he says.
I look at him like he's just been hit on the head with a rock. "What?"
"I mean it," Cody says, "Come with me."
"I couldn't," I say, "I shouldn't. I don't want to get in your way."
"You won't," Cody says, "I promise."
I smile at him. Maybe I do love him.
Cody seems to read my mind, because the next words come out unexpectedly. "I like you more than I've ever liked a girl," he says, "I think I might be falling for you."
I think I'm falling for him too, but I don't feel like telling him that yet. "No guy has ever said that to me before. In fact, I don't even think a guy has ever liked me."
Cody looks down at me. "Why wouldn't a guy like you? You're smart, bubbly... perfect in every way."
I almost start to cry again. "Thankyou, Cody."
Cody smiles at me. It's not just any smile, either. It's a true smile - one that only comes from the heart.
"I wrote something for you," Cody says, pulling a piece of paper out of his pocket. "Do you have a guitar anywhere?" He asks.
I shake my head. "No."
Cody settles himself down on my desk chair. "Okay then, I guess I'll have to do this a Capella."
Cody takes a deep breath before beginning.
He sings the entire song, about three minutes long. He looks at me the whole time, all of the lyrics coming from his heart. He even starts crying in the middle of the song.
It's the chorus and bridge that get me the most, especially the chorus. Even I start to cry.
The song finishes with the line, "I'm still in love with you." Cody and I stay seated where we are, lost in each other's eyes. The last line rings in my head, as I'm sure it does in Cody's.
Finally, I stand up, and slowly walk over to him.
Cody looks down at me, his hazel-blue eyes clear.
"It's called, 'Summertime Of Our Lives," he says.
I nod. "I don't even care about the song title," I say.
Cody frowns slightly. "Then what do you care about?"
I reach for his hands, not taking my eyes off his. "You."
And with that, in one swift moment, my lips connect to his in a short and soft kiss.

I know it was short but quite a bit happened in it. Aren't the shortest chapters always the best? Sometimes, I guess. 9 DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS!!!
