Odell

"I don't think we should do this."

I looked up to see Ciara rolling her eyes.

"Can you please sign the paper?" She sighed.

Ciara and I have been sitting infront of eachother for the longest time now. She brought me divorce papers. I feel like these aren't necessary. I still care for her alot, so I'm not letting this happen.

Reaching over I grabbed her hand smiling.

"Look baby, we gon' be okay!" I smiled.

She scrunched her nose up hitting my hand.

"How would we be okay Odell? You have hand/trust AND respect problems. I'm not being with someone that can't respect their priorities."

"My kids are my priority." I replied looking her in her eyes.

"I understand that Odell. But I was your wife."

I sat back crossing my arms.

"Hand problems? I have hand problems?!" I spat.

"You. Hit. Me. In. My. FACE." She hollered.

Leaning forward I smiled at her.

"I've never hit a woman before in my life. So if I do, then you know you've done something wrong."

Her eyes widened before she frowned standing up. I stood as well grabbing her arm.

"Nigga look you can grab footballs however you want, but, you not gon' be grabbing me." She yanked away.

"Stop," I said sighing. "I'm sorry Cee. Look, I've been thinking lately. And I've realized I was wrong for everything. At the time I was selfish and I just wanted everything to perfect you us. I'm sorry baby."

With the straightest face possible, she wrapped her arms around my neck before hugging me.

Valerie

I sighed out of breath pulling Odell's apartment key out of my pocket.

"Elijiah Dominic Beckham, please stop whining."

I went on a little field trip with Dom and Destiny, and he's been crying ever since then because he didn't wanna leave.

I'm not white, I don't give into everything. And I'm DEFIANTLY not staying in no damn pumpkin patch. Goddamn clowns popping out a people nowadays..

"Ion fuck wit dat.." I whispered thinking about it.

After opening the door Destiny ran in then upstairs. I turned around facing Dom.

"Wipe your face."

"What's wrong?"

I turned around to see Odell frowning. Rolling my eyes I walked in.

"He wanted to stay at the damn pumpkin patch. I don't have time for that." I said rubbing my back.

"I could have went on the trip-"

I furrowed my eyebrows looking at what came out of the kitchen.

"Oh.." I whispered. "Hi Ciara."

"Hey Valerie, I was just leaving. See ya later!"

"Yeah.. See you later." I said turning around looking at Odell as Ciara left.

"W-We.. We're back together!" Odell smiled with his arms in the air.

I stormed off in the direction of my room.

"Why are you mad?!" He yelled after me.

"I FUCKING HATE YOU!" I spat turning around.

"WHY?!" Odell screamed which made him look scary.. His voice is too deep for him to be screaming at people..

"Why are you mad Valerie?!" He yelled walking closer. "Because I'm happy and you're not? I can't please everyone!"

"We're supposed to be together!" I cried out. "Why can't you see that? Dom! He was our sign. And we didn't listen to it.. But this," I rubbed my stomach. "This is our second chance Odell! Can't you see? I'm here for a reason!"

He clenched his jaw shaking his head.

"No Valerie." He started. "You're here because no one else wants you. You're here because I made a mistake and I'm taking care of it. You're here because you need someone to rely on. And that's what you're doing."

"The fuck I'm not." I stomped away.

Busting into the room I was staying in I began to repack my things.

One thing my mama taught me was to depend on no one but, yourself. You grew up yourself, so deal with yourself. Depend on no man.

So I won't.
