By the time school rolled around, I was giving James Bond a run for his money doing everything humanly possibly to avoid my beautiful Spanish amigo.
More like amor.
What?
I peeked around the corner before heading over to my locker to make sure the coast was clear before marching my way through the battlefield of Death.
Death by humiliation of course.
And death by humiliation was correct because attached my locker was a single red rose.
My face flushed challenging the colour of the rose. I wasn't embarrassed as much as I was flattered by the gestured act of affection.
" If I didn't know any better I'd say you we're avoiding me." I turned around already having known who the voice belonged to but it didn't hurt to get a sneak peak at the ever changing green eyes Carlos possessed.
" I'm not avoiding you Sanchez. It's just I've been busy."
"Doing what querida?" He questioned.
"Stop doing that!" I fired back. " Doing what?" He repeated. "Calling me that! Yo no soy tu querida" ( I'm not your sweetheart)
"That kiss told me otherwise."
I froze.
"What kiss?"
"So you're going play that card baby girl?"
"The only cards I play is go fish and UNO."
I watched him carefully as he detached my rose from my locker and returned to me.
He trailed the petalled flower down my cheek, whilst my throat dried up and my mouth gaped slightly open.
" Remember Querida, you kissed me first."
And with that he left me with a soft kiss on my lips and a rose placed in my hand and walked away.************************************************************************************************
