Carlos' P.O.V.
---------------------------
I had managed to pull some string earlier on this afternoon at the school. Afterall, Craven High did not have the best security system. Carrie, who helps out the Head mistress on Saturdays adminstered my plan to take place. I was going to get Beth's phone number. After trying to find her in the phone books I soon found out her number was not listed. So what better way to retrieve it than from the Head mistresses niece.
Carrie of course was reluctant at first but as soon as I had mentioned the fact that Joshua Mackenzie had been interested in taking her to the Barmond Anuual Carnival and the only way this was going to happen if she did me a favour. It was in my nature to use others needs for my own benefit but this was for a good cause, even though I myself was not a saint.
Within 30 mins of standing guard outside the adminstration office I finally had what I wanted written on a small piece of paper in the palm of my hand.

Pacing back and forth on the balcony I contemplated what I was going to text her first, and it was not like me to have to think of what to say. Before I could chicken out I hit send to my message.
Carlos: Be ready for our date. I'll pick you up at 7.
Beth: Who's this?
Shit. I forgot she did nto have my number.
Carlos: Carlos.
It took her a second too long to reply but when her reply came back it was the least I expected. I thought she'd show her feisty side and rip me to shreds for being so forward with my question, which now I look at it was more of a demand.
Beth: Well excuse you, You have to ask first.
As I went to rephrase my earlier text a message followed suit the prior one she had sent.
Beth: Oh, and the answer is no.
I decided not to reply to that last message and put plan B to action because being the handsomely smart devil I am, I had predicted this outcome and had one final move for tonight to happen.
I took a few calming breaths as I waited for someone to pick up on the other, praying to God it was Beth's mother and not Beth. Two rings...Three rings...Four..
"Hello?"
Bingo!
" Hello Mrs.Davis, My name is Carlos how are you?" I had added some charm into my voice in hopes that I can win over her mother.
" I'm fine thank you... Can I know why your'e calling here? Because one thing is for certain this phone call is definitely not for me." She replied with a hint of excitement.
" Well don't be too sure about that Mrs.Davis, If you are as funny, smart and beautiful like your daughter I'm sure we would get along fine." Sweet talking is the icing on every mothers cake... Well, almost every mother.
" Mhmmm, well you're a confident one aren't you? Did you want me to get Beth for you?" She asked.
" Not exactly, I was wandering if you could help me out with something. I spoke to Beth earlier on today and asked her out on a date and she said she'd love to go if only she didn't have that English assignment to do for Mr. Young's class. She seemed really down about it so I was wandering if you'd help me take her out for a couple of hours or so. I understand if you say no, but she seems stressed lately and i just wanted her to relax and have fun..." I crossed my fingers as I waited for her response considering she had been quiet over the phone in the last couple of monutes of my explanation.
" How sweet of you to be so thoughtful and so exciting! You must be very brave to want this badly enough that you would call her mother! I'll let her know right away." She promised.
" Mrs.Davis do me a favour and keep it a surprise, I don't want her to be reluctant to go if she feels like she's going to waste her time. Just make sure she's ready by 7pm, and tell her to dress nice" I replied.
" Will do sweetheart, and don't worry your secret is safe with me, and hun call me Linda. It was great meeting you." she said happily.
" You too Linda, See you tonight."
" Bye Carlos." And with that our conversation had ended.
It was time to prepare for the evening Beth will never forget.
