She didn't know if it was an aftereffect of the training, but Sora was suddenly hyper aware of everything going on around her.
Much to her dismay, she could feel every time someone so much as shifted. Fortunately, it was only within the eight foot range she had been practicing earlier that day. Unfortunately, they were all currently eating dinner together on the same table, and Sasuke and Naruto just wouldn't sit still. They were chucking down their food like they'd never had a real meal in their lives, food flying all over the place. Sora was dodging airborne mashed potatoes without even having to look up, a repressed shiver running up her spine every time a piece of food came hurtling towards her.
"—and I was the only one to reach the top of the tree." Sakura was saying to her now, her nose held high. "So I had to protect Tazuna while he oversaw the bridge while these two stayed so they could practice some more."
Sora pushed around her own food with her fork. She wasn't hungry. How could she even think about eating right now when she could feel every time Tazuna lifted his spoon to his mouth, or that little boy (she forgot his name) glanced at a torn picture to the side. Kakashi had already finished his food, though Sora didn't know how, when he still had that stupid mask on. Tsunami smiled nervously, shifting awkwardly as she looked at the two boys. Sora scowled, holding on to her head, trying to push all those feelings away.
"I always knew that you had the best chakra control out of all of us." She said bluntly to Sakura, who blinked in surprise, having not actually expected Sora to answer. "That's why I asked you to mold the chakra bracelet."
Sakura beamed brightly, a blush spread across her cheeks. "T-thanks, Sora! That...that really means a lot."
But Sora had stopped listening. She hadn't been trying to compliment the pink-haired girl, only boast about her own confidence in her. But Sakura could take it as she liked, Sora wasn't about to go correcting her. If Sakura became a more useful member to the team because of what she said, then good. She could do with a little more confidence in herself.
"I want some more!"
Both boys are up on their feet, bowls held up in the air, glaring at each other. Then, they abruptly return to their seats, slowly turning green. Sora scrunches her nose in disgust as both boys turn and vomit all over the floor. She didn't need to have the sharingan to see that coming.
Sakura slammed her hand on the table, standing up. "Don't eat so much if you're going to puke it up!"
"I have to eat." Sasuke argues, though he's holding onto his gut and looking at Naruto. Naruto returns his gaze, smirking slightly.
"And I have to eat more than him. It's the only possible way I'll be strong enough to beat 'em."
"I disagree." Sora says, leaning her head on her hand, trying to keep her mind off the chakra signatures of everyone in the room. "Eating doesn't make you stronger, it just makes you fat. You have to actually train to get stronger."
"Well, I'll just eat a lot and then train even harder, dattebayo!" Naruto exclaims. Then blinks, scratching his head. "Say, Sora? How come you weren't training with us today?"
"Because her arm is still healing, Naruto," Sakura explains before Sora could answer for herself. "Kakashi-Sensei told us that already, weren't you paying attention?"
"Oh yeah..." Then he grins down at her. "Just don't fall behind, Sora! Or else I'm going to have to start saving you against Zabuza!"
Sora narrows her eyes at him dangerously. "I wasn't just sitting around, Naruto. I was doing training of my own. And the day that you have to come to my rescue is the day I kneel over and die, got it? It's never going to happen."
