I Am Cancer ((A Deadpool Story))
Chapter 21:- Lost
Wade woke up late, still curled up into Peters chest. "Good morning." Peter whispered, seeing the bright blue of Wade's eyes shining up at him. Wade sighed, moving so he was facing Peter, their noses almost touching.
"What's so good about it?" He asked, as the younger boy wiped a stray tear from Wade's cheek. Wade sighed, closing his eyes as he felt his heart sink. He had dreamt that his daughter was alive and safe, and so to wake up to know she was dying or dead... It crushed him more than ever.
Peter held his friend closer to his chest. "I... I want to sleep, all day." Wade cried, as Peter watched his friend sink into a dark pit. Peter knew that it was the best thing for him. If he didn't sleep all day, he'd be with his daughter, and with how fragile Wade's mental health was before all this, seeing his daughter would only push him over the edge.
"I'm going to get us some food, what would you like?" Peter told him, carefully moving to stand up and get dressed. Wade didn't say anything, just lay there in his own little world. "I'll surprise you..." Peter mumbled, and grabbed his shirt.
Wade rolled over to face the boy, grabbing his hand before he could leave. "Thank you..." He whispered, and let go. Peters heart broke at the sight of the man. His face red, and his eyes dull.
Peter left the room, pulling on a coat and getting into the elevator. "J.A.R.V.I.S keep Wade in my room, do not let him in the lab." Peter said, as he tried to sort through his thoughts.
"Of course sir. A Mr. Barton is here." J.A.R.V.I.S told him, as he reached the ground floor. Peter nodded in acknowledgement, opening the front door.
"Clint, you here for Tony?" Peter asked. Clint shook his head, and shrugged.
"I was wondering how Wade was doing, I heard about the kid, if it true she was his?" He asked. Peter shoved his hands in his pockets, nodding his head as he looked to the ground. "I feel pretty guilty about it. If I hadn't told him, maybe it wouldn't have..." Clint said.
"It's not your fault. It would have happened anyways. He's pretty shook up about it, we're trying to save her, but trying to keep Wade distracted... I'm just going to get him some breakfast, if you wanna join me?" Peter asked, hawkeye nodded his head, thinking it best to avoid going to see his partners for a while longer.
Wade on the other hand was still curled into the bed, his eyes shut tight. 'It's not your fault, Wade.' The voice said. Wade just ignored it though. He didn't want to hear it today.
'It's ours, we told him about her.'
'IT'S BEST THAT SHE DIED THOUGH, SHE WON'T BE IN DANGER ANYMORE.'
"Please just shut up, leave me alone!" Wade yelled, burying into the covers.
'We can't stay in bed all day, Wade.'
'SHE WOULDN'T WANT US TO BE SAD.'
Wade sighed, knowing they were right. He took a deep breath, and slowly stood up, walking towards the bathroom. "Mr. Wilson, Peter has instructed me to keep you within this room." J.A.R.V.I.S said, locking the door, and keeping him out.
"J.A.R.V.I.S it's a bathroom, I'm hardly going to be able to go anywhere." He said. J.A.R.V.I.S unlocked the door, allowing him to enter, as he grabbed some of Peter clothes, deciding to take a shower and clean off the blood and dirt from the previous day.
Peter had gotten Wade some chimichangas in hopes it would cheer him up. He and Clint spoke about the events of the day before, before parting ways back at the tower. Clint went to see Tony, in hopes of being able to find a way to save the young girl.
Peter entered his bedroom, the sound of running water and singing filling his ears. "I am a lost boy, from Neverland. Usually hanging out with Peter Pan..." He heard Wade singing, his voice cracking every so often.
Peter knocked on the door, opening it just a crack allowing steam to slowly seep out. "Wade, I brought food..." He said, as the water went off.
"I'll be... One minute." Wade called back, stepping out, and wrapping a towel around his waist. Peter sat down on the bed, placing his head in his hands. This week had been awful, one disaster after the other. And it was Aunt May's funeral the day after.
Wade slowly stumbled out of the bathroom, sitting beside the boy, who just handed him the bag of food. "Thanks." Wade said, giving him a small smile. Peter just nodded, as they both sat in silence, the only noise coming from Wade as he bit into the greasy food.
"What was the song you were singing?" Peter asked, as Wade finished eating.
"I don't know... It's Ellie's favourite though... She loves Peter Pan, it's her favourite film." Wade told him, thinking back to the many times she had made him watch it.
"It'll be okay, I promise... I know it's probably not the best time to bring this up... But will you.. Will you come to Aunt May's funeral with me tomorrow?" Peter asked. He felt guilty talking about funerals at this time, but Tony and Steve couldn't be there since they needed to finalise adoption papers, and Gwen... He hated Gwen.
Wade nodded, and pulled the brown haired boy onto his knee, holding him close. "I am cancer, to everyone around me..." Wade mumbled.
