Mark's P.O.V.

I looked out along the sandy shore, with waves crawling up close to my feet. The sun was starting to set as it made beautiful swirls of orange and red across the sky. I smiled and turned to head over to the special cove. I decided to come down on foot this evening, seeing as Tim was being locked in his stall for the night. It was nice, though, being left alone with my thoughts as twilight settled in. The cove was soon in sight as I crawled through the hidden opening, to find an amazing sight. There was Jack, sitting on top of the rock in the middle of the pool. His tail was also displayed on the rock, and his neon hair was slicked back from just coming out of the water. He seemed to glitter as the last remnants of the golden sunlight poured through the top of the cove, where the rocks didn't block. My face seemed to heat up a little as he looked over at me, his bright blue eyes clashing wonderfully with the sun. I blinked for a moment before smiling and heading over to the water's edge.

"You're late Markimoo!" His voice flowed out as I rolled up my trousers to my knee and I stuck my feet in the water.

"Well, I'm sorry I'm late your royal highness, but I walked here today, Tim was preoccupied." I snapped back to him before playfully splashing water on him. He flinched back for a moment before looking at me with a fake look of annoyance on his face.

"OH, it's ON!!" He smiled as he yelled at me before he dove under the water. I let out a much-needed laugh before I felt something grab my ankle, I looked down just in time to see a pale arm pull me under the water. I sucked in a breath before I plunged into the water, and I used what Jack had taught me to bring myself back up to the surface. I opened my eyes to see Jack laughing his head off as I sent another splash hs way.

"Wow Jack, that's pretty cold for you!" I started to pout as he calmed down his laughter.

"Oh come on Mark, I know how good of a swimmer you are, I taught you!" I broke my poker face at that, chuckling a little. Ever since I learned Jack was a merman, he's been teaching me how to swim, and I have gotten loads better. I continued to keep my head elevated as I noticed Jack continuing to get closer to me. I felt my face heat up again and I felt a weird feeling in my gut. I brushed it off, as Jack grabbed my hand and lightly pulled me under. I closed my eyes as he pulled me down deep, and started to quickly swim up. I could hold my breath, but I wasn't able to for long. I propelled myself forward with my feet, but I made sure Jack was ahead of me. I trusted him to lead me, and not hurt me as I swam blindly after him. I felt the surface come closer and I heard Jack breakout of the water. I followed suit, only then deciding to open my eyes to see wee Jack had lead me. He brought me outside the cove, wich I'd only swam out here a few times beforehand with him. The sun was getting lower, with darker reds oranges and pinks, and they were all bouncing off the water around me beautifully. I turned to face Jack and smiled brightly.

"Jack, this is amazing!!" I chuckled as he smiled back at me.

"Yeah, I usually do a quick swim up here in the evening, I love watching the pretty colors! It's nice to be up here, and see the colors firsthand instead of just beams in the water." He looked over the water's surface, the sun illuminating him and a light blush on his face. The same feeling returned into my chest, and I noticed we were still holding hands. I wondered where this feeling was coming from, am I sick? My thought was cut short as I heard the sound of a girl laughing. I looked over at Jack to see his entire face pale and he started to pull me back down to our cove. We both froze when we heard the same girl call out into the evening.
