I'll let you enjoy this part for now!~~
Mark's P.O.V.
"Alright, and with that, this lesson is over today. Please finish this page tonight Prince, and that will be all from me." The old tutor slowly crept out of the library and I was left to the silence of the old texts. I looked down at my book, staring at the line of questions that seemed endless.
"Geez, I just can't get a break, can I?" I mumbled under my breath as I stood up, stretching my arms. I walked around the walls of books, heading in no particular direction. I slowly turned and accidentally brushed my arm against a line of books sending them to the floor.
"Shoot!" I barely whispered as I bend down to pick up the books. They were all askew, with some opened to random passages from the fall. I leaned over one book, in particular, to pick it up, but a section of words stopped me in my tracks.
"... madly in love, but it would ultimately result in death. He was just a lowly peasant, a simple farmer, yet his name would become a cursed word if he told of his secret. This secret was so terrible, so evil, but so hard to keep. This man was in love, a beautiful, strong love, but it was not a happy love. For you see, this man was in love with someone he should never be with. They would meet and spend hours together, embracing each other. But they could never truly be together, not until they were both deep underground where only the dirt and grass could judge..." I found my eyes start to water slightly, before snapping out of my daze. I continued to read the book from front to back and watched as this man and this love of his meet, fall into a beautiful love, and then ultimately end their lives. I felt immense sorrow for these two, they just wanted to be happy, but the world wouldn't let them. But I never figured out why they couldn't be together. The book never mentioned anything about the lover, only that they were there in the book. I stood up, going off to find my tutor to help.
"Excuse me!" I quietly called him, and he snapped his head up to look at me. I found him, sitting at a desk in a quiet corner, reading.
'Ah, yes my Prince? Do you need help with something?" He stood up and walked over to me slightly bowing once he was in front.
'Um, actually, I found this book, and I was wondering if you knew anything about it?" I handed the book to him, and he closely examined the binding. He flipped through the pages, scanning over the words. He soon snapped the book shut, letting it echo in the library.
"My Prince, this book was written many years ago, by a famous author. No one ever knew his name or face, but he was known for his beautiful stories. This one is one of his less popular titles. It was one of his last books we wrote, actually, before he just vanished. Many people believe that this book was his last years written out, but no one knows for sure. Many scholars, myself included, have tried to interpret this book, but they have never ended up with a clear answer. Many people have forgotten the book because they don't understand it, and so it is the least popular of all. But, like to think he wrote it that way, with an open end. He left it up to the reader to interpret the story, and that makes it the most meaningful. The people that have read this book can never forget it, because they are able t connect with it, in some way." My tutor finally stopped his rant about the book, and I stood in silence, taking it in.
"What is the title?" I timidly asked, turning my face to him as I took the book back.
"The writer never made a title. And he asked that no one ever will because it wasn't meant to have one." I nodded my head, before turning back to my desk.
"Thank you, that will be all, for now." I called back as I slowly made my way back to my desk with the book.
'Relatable... huh..." I mumbled under my breath as I looked at the old binding of the book. This book was more than relatable for me. It finally opened my eyes to my situation. It finally sunk in, that I was in a forbidden love, with my best friend. I found myself smiling, though, even after reading the book. I was in love with Jack, and sure, I was still trying to understand this, but I was happy. I was happy to spend my time with him, and I was going to make the most of the time I had with him, for fear of the events in the book happening to us. I took a deep breath in before I walked out of the library, a bounce in my step with a new found happiness.
~~I'm really sorry for how short this is, but I might upload a new chapter later this week? I also have another little something, that I was wondering. I came up with a new story idea, and I was thinking about posting it. I don't know if I should wait until I finish this story (which won't be happening anytime soon, don't worry!) Or should I start this new fanfic up while working on this story? Give me your suggestions on what I should do, it would be helpful!! That's it for now, see ya!!~~
