Phil woke up at the crack of dawn. His head hurt like hell, his throat was sore, and worst of all was his heart. His heart pounded, a saddening feeling enveloping his whole body. He didn't want to get up. He felt numb.

Meanwhile, in the room just opposite, lay Dan. He hadn't fallen asleep, he rarely did, but he could hear all of Phil's thoughts. He didn't want to, it just happened. Walking around on the streets was a nightmare, everyone's thoughts bombarded his mind. A reason of many as to why he never went outside.

I feel so bad... Why did I do that to him... I knew he didn't like it when that kind of thing happens so why the hell did I make that move... Dan listened to Phil's thoughts. Sometimes he thought it was creepy to actually pay attention to them, but he couldn't help but hear them. Literally.

Dan couldn't help but feel a little bad. But, at the same time, he felt some sort of anger towards Phil. He opened up as much as a demon possibly could and told Phil that he didn't want him to desert him like that and... Phil did just that.

So, for now, he decided it would be best to put on a fake smile and wait it out like he did every other time this happened.

Dan forced himself to get off his bed, leaving the room and going across the house. The farther away he was from Phil, the less likely he would hear his thoughts. He sat in front of the window, looking out at the sludgy, snowy mess that was splattered all over the roads. Wasn't so beautiful right now, was it. Just like their relationship.

I have got to get him out of my head. Dan thought. Sure, Phil has been his favourite person who ever summoned him, which was surprising considering not only the amount of people who have summoned him but the amount of time Dan has known Phil. But he recently found out that Phil has been the only living thing on Dan's mind lately.

Dan doesn't have feelings though. He can't feel, he's a demon. So he doesn't know why Phil is always the first thing that comes to Dan's mind.

Dan was snapped out of his thoughts by the sounds of Phil's voice calling him.

"Dan... Dan..?" He heard Phil sigh. "I understand if you're ignoring me... I was an asshole last night and I just..."

Dan turned around, flashing Phil a smile. "Don't apologize. I'm here for one reason, and one reason only. I acted in the wrong, and that's my fault. You summoned me for a purpose, so I will fulfill your wants."

Phil looked shocked. Partially from being cut off so abruptly, but mostly at what Dan had said.

"Um, I uh- didn't mean to-"

"Don't explain. I understand completely. A relationship with a demon is very hard to achieve, and talking to them in general can be especially tricky. Especially when they were presented with their worst fear." Dan kept the fake smile spread upon his face.

Phil seemed hesitant, the expression on his face looking hurt. "Uh.." He mumbled. "I don't know... how to respond to that..."

"You don't need to." Dan said, glaring slightly at Phil. He wasn't mad, he mostly just wanted Phil to feel bad. It was the most he could get out of this situation. "You should probably get ready for work, now."

Phil only nodded in response, looking down and shuffling to his room. Phil felt hurt, but he guessed that was how Dan felt too.
