9 Months Later
The sun beat down on Phil's shoulders through the dirty and ratted navy blue cloak he wore. There weren't many people anywhere.
Phil walked the deserted streets of a small town that wasn't even on the map, his feet aching with every step, his mouth parched from being dehydrated, and his hands cracked and calloused. He knew he was still in the UK, he just had no idea where.
Someone came out of one of the old wooden buildings, stopping in his tracks when he saw Phil.
"I haven't seen you around here before. Where are you from?" The man asked. Phil opened his mouth to speak though nothing came out. The man came closer, Phil shaking. He couldn't produce any noise or saliva, so all he did was raise one of his pained hands and pointed to his mouth.
The man looked confused for a moment, then it looked like a lightbulb went off in his head. "Water?" He asked. Phil nodded, the man smiling and motioning for him to follow as he started to walk towards the building he just came out of.
The man gave Phil a cup of slightly murky water, insisting that it was the cleanest he could get. It didn't really matter to Phil, it was something. He downed the glass in about 7 seconds, the man giving him another. The water stung a little bit but it did the job.
"You good now?" The man asked.
"Y-yes." Phil croaked. He hadn't spoke to anyone for a while, he had been walking for so long with nobody to talk to and not enough water. "I'm.. Phil. From London."
"Oh, you're from the big city huh? What are you doing out here then?"
"Looking for something.. May I ask for your name?"
"Jeffery." He had a northern accent that reminded him of Chris. Oh, how Phil missed his friends and everyone he knew.
"Do you have a place where I could find any books?" Phil asked.
Jeffery nodded, motioning to outside. "Go down and across the road, you'll be able to find Miss Mary's. She has a ton of old books that I don't think she would mind you looking through."
"Thank you." Phil said softly, offering a kurt nod to Jeffery. He left the building, the sun making him sweat almost instantaneously, and made his across the road. He followed the dusty trail beside the buildings until he came across one with an old wooden sign in fancy lettering that said, "Miss Mary's Trinkets and Such".
Phil pushed the door open, a small bell ringing at the action.
"Jeff? Is that you?" Someone called, a short old woman turning the corner. "Oh, haven't seen anyone new around these parts. What's your-"
"Phil Lester, London. I'm looking for a book and Jeffery told me I could come here." Phil interuppted. She looked slightly shocked, nodding.
"Uh, yes I have books. What kind are you looking for?" Miss Mary asked.
Phil sighed, opening the letter bag that had been strapped over his shoulder. He pulled out the old tattered book, it's brown engraved cover a familiar face to him.
"It's a little bit strange..." He started to explain, setting it on the counter and flipping through a couple of pages. Depictions of pentagrams and summoning spells were scrawled across the pages. "When I got it from my great grandfather, he said there were only 5 known copies to the entire world..."
