Prologue- Long After The Giant War
Humanity is flawed. Too ambitious, too ignorant. We have come very far, but we are still behind. We stumble and fall, cry and complain, but that is simply our nature. We hope for greatness, but rarely notice it. However, we do our best when we need it, we strive to do better, and most of all......we live.
(Pre-Blood of Olympus) (Percy POV)
I ran through the forests of Camp Half-Blood, making a mad dash toward the barrier. They were close, shouting and the sound of foot stomps rang through the area. It was midnight, how perfect. How could this happen?
The sky was grey, with rain and thunder pouring down heavily on the innocent forest.
I, Percy Jackson, am being chased out of my home by my family. Funny isn't it? Sometimes, its better to just laugh. Laugh at the horror, laugh at the pain.
Shink!
An unknown arrow pierced my back as I ran, my orange camp shirt was now a sickly red. My head stirred, almost losing balance, but I ran. I ran as fast as I could, because I needed to. I couldn't even cry, it hurt too much. Far too much. I gave a grunt of pain and carried on, trudging the dark forests, making a break to Manhatten.
2 Hours Later
I stopped running, as I couldn't even walk anymore. I made it to the city, my family, I mean the campers gave up after I made it out of the barrier, but I still ran in fear of my own. I had stopped only once in the forests to rip the arrow out of my back, very painfully might I add. I tore my sleeves to cover and stop the wound, and I made it here, the city of Manhatten.
I slowly made my way to a small alley, and collapsed on the floor. I slumped my back on the dirty walls. I wasn't safe here, heck, nobody is truly safe. I ignored pedestrians as they walked by, looking at me with pity.
I breathed harder, my breaths were like poison, the once fresh air turned to venom. Must be the work of Zeus or Thalia.
I gave a bitter grin at the image of my past family. I remember it like it was yesterday. The day I was a hero, the day I had a girfriend, a home, and a family.
Nobody could have expected this, not even the fates.
My fatigue was too much, my scarred back only added insult to injury. I hadn't planned to sleep in a dark alley today, but I just can't go anywhere else. This is me now, now and forever. After today, nothing will be the same, bonds are broken, dams have flooded, and the future is grim.
Who knew that the hero wouldn't be killed by a monster, or a tyrant, but his own allies, his blood spilled by those around him.
I may not be dead, but the deepest wounds are the ones you can't see. Maybe I wasn't meant to be a hero, maybe I was destined to fail.
My eyes rested down, like a warm blanket, and before I knew it, I was asleep.
"Monster!"
"Traitor!"
"I thought we could trust you!"
"How could you?"
"Get out, now!"
"Grab him!"
"Percy Jackson, you have done the despicable. Know that you shall tread lightly, for if you shall ever show your face here again, you will be hunted, scum of the sea.!"
"You aren't the seaweed brain I knew. I am sorry Percy, but this relationship is over between us. I hope you find someone else that can love you."
