Chapter 8

(Max's POV)

"So Jacob had a panic attack when you tried to bring him back to reality?"

"Yup. I'm sorry it didn't work." Preston said.

"Don't be so hard on yourself. At least he has it in his head to think if it's real." Adam said.

"I wish there was a way for Jacob to get calmed down without triggering anything." Preston said.

"You know... There might be a way to do that." Barney said.

We all looked at Barney weird.

"It was right before Jacob wanted to leave for college. His special friends." Barney said.

"You mean Aubrey?" I asked. Barney nodded.

"But how do we contact her?" Adam asked.

"Leave that to me. It's one of the pluses to being the one who fucked Jacob." Barney said.

"Uuuuuh. Barney.... You fucked my kid?" Barney immediately turned red out of embarrassment and put his phone up to his ear.

"Hold on I'm getting a call." Barney lied walking away. Everyone beside Preston and I laughed.

"He can't avoid that topic forever now." I said.

"So Barney had sex with your kid Max?" Preston asked.

"Jacob and Barney were a thing. But something happened to Jacob and he lost his memory of them being a thing." Adam explained.

"Oh okay. How did he lose his memory?"

"Long story, so here's what happened." I started explaining.

(Barney's POV)

I dialed Aubrey's number on my phone and waited for her to pick up.

A: Hello?
B: hey Aubrey its Barney.
A: hi Barney how are you doing?
B: good and how about you?
A: doing good. I changed my name to DJ for safety purposes.
B: is it because of what happened with the incident?
A: ya it is, anyways why'd you call?
B: I need a favor. We all are in California right now.
A: oh! Visiting Jacob? How's he doing?
B: not good. His college thing was a scam. He was kidnapped and held captive for six months.
A: that's terrible!
B: and worst of all. His captor was using some sort of medication to make Jacob hallucinate. The hallucinations are of what you want to see most. Jacob saw Max, but the hallucinations act out whatever is actually happening in the real world.
A: oh no. Don't tell me.
B: yeah you probably guessed it. The captor raped and abused Jacob, making him believe that Max raped and abused him.
A: what makes you think I can help?

B: you never did say what your Element is capable of. And I have a feeling it can help Jacob.
