Foreword:

I wanted to thank you for checking out my work. It's always hard to write something that people would be interested in. I'll be brief. The following is a Gears of War Fan Fiction and the conspiracies within this story are rather... Questionable. If you love the series and find that this story is just an insult... I'm sorry. But don't let that stop you and once again, thanks for at least checking this out.

Prologue:

Hello, my name is Pyrrha and although I hate to admit it, I'm Stranded. Stranded is the political term for us civilians who became Stranded by a deadly war that has pushed humanity to the brink. Many years ago a deadly race known as Locust emerged from the depths of the Earth to take it from us. None of us Stranded really know what they are; all that we know is that they're deadly. We've all heard stories from town to town about them. Some say they're the wrath of God and others say they're aliens. A man once told me they're a race just like us humans only they lived in cities deep underground.

I don't know much about the war, I haven't experienced as much as others. I live in a place called Baroque. It's an old mining town in the middle of the country. I was born and raised there.  The only reason we can live a civilised life is because it's so hard to find. It's surrounded by hills and concealed by the thick wilderness around it. Plus our only radio broke years ago. I'm told the outside world is full of bad people.

My parents were killed in the mines, I never knew them. I was named Pyrrha by my brother, Kevin. It's after a Greek Myth. Pyrrha and her husband Deucalion were the only survivors of a great flood and were tasked with the repopulation of the Earth. They threw stones over their shoulders which would turn into babies (somehow). So in a sense my name was meant to give life and hope to the people around me. Let's hope that's the case in these crazy times...
