Once upon a time

Chapter 8

            Once I was at the archery range, I set up everything I needed while I waited on my teacher. Tired of waiting I went ahead and shot an arrow hitting dead center of the target. I get ready to shoot another arrow but my thoughts distract me.

Well this is strange he's never late. I mean it's not like I need a teacher. He mainly just supervises until he discusses my next unit with the queen. I wonder when I get to move on to a moving target. Maybe that unit got a no from the queen.

I get ready to release the arrow but someone running toward me distracted me again.

"Wait!!" A voice called from the direction of the person running.

"Huh?" I said to myself as I turned to see that the person running was a woman.

"Everything has been canceled because of the storm. The queen doesn't want anyone outside until it's a for sure the weather has cleared." The woman said out of breath.

"Wait but the queen isn't here how would you know this?" I questioned her.

"It's her rule for all server weather. You should know being the princess shouldn't you?"

Wait how does she know I'm the princess?

"Well you see I don't talk with the queen as often as people would like to think. Plus we rarely get server weather here so it's most likely I forgot about that one rule. Also I rarely come outside unless it's for archery lessons."

"Oh. Well I got get going someone needs me, but you all better get back inside."

"Ok well thanks for letting me know."

Why is she in such a hurry?

"No problem." She winks at me and runs off.  Suddenly she disappeared as if she was a figment of my imagination.

"Edwin?" I was questioned a lot of things.

"Yeah?" He sounded as equally confused as me.

"You saw that too...right?" I was trying to organize my thoughts as I spoke.

"Yeah it was really strange."

"It was suspiciously strange," I started saying as I was squinting my eyes and tilting my head in the direction she ran then continued, "Let's go back inside now."

            Back inside there was no one around. It seemed really strange since everyone always seems to be hanging around the back of the castle. Mainly since there's a giant flat screen tv everyone seems to love. Me and Edwin decide to split up and look around. This gave me the chance to explore the castle a little more than I already know. I didn't really want to look for anyone I just wanted to explore.

Screw finding people I'm on an adventure. I wonder if there was sugar in my breakfast today. Their mistake if there was since they know not to give me sugar.

I head down a hallway opposite to the one Edwin took. After a while I find a small hidden narrow spiral staircase and head up it. Half way up the staircase my phone violently vibrated in my back pocket scaring me where I almost lost my balance. I look at my phone to see that Edwin has texted me.

'Any luck finding anyone?'

'DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT!!! I could fall if I lose my balance.'

'One you're not looking for people are you? Two you're on the narrow staircase too aren't you?'

'Why would I want to look for people? Like screw finding people I'm on an adventure! But yeah I'm on the staircase too. Race to the top?'
