Once upon a time

Chapter 12

I rushed downstairs after getting dressed as quickly as I could. In fact, my own speed shocked me with how fast I was. Once downstairs the memory of the men in black suits came to life. Except this time, they carried no weapon. My father and step mother was tied up and suddenly my fear war replaced with anger. I also got a sudden boast of confidence too.

"What's going on?" I demanded with my new boast of confidence.

"Oh just taking your parents for a walk." One of the men remarked.

"You fooled me once with that. It won't work this time around." I readied my powers for what might happen.

"But madam this is our first time meeting you." The man holding my parents said. I straighten myself out and slowly descend down the stairs.

"Apparently you don't remember the little girl carried out last in the cottage out in the woods."

"Oh yeah I remember her. Poor thing had to watch her parents die. Though she did have quite a temper." I look the man dead in the eye and spoke with some sort of pride.

"That little girl was me and my parents survived."

"Impossible her parents..." I cut him off.

"My Parents are alive." This time I accidently left a flame out but it was too quickly gone for someone to notice. The man looked at me with shock as if my words hit him like a slap to the face. Suddenly my face stung as if someone had slapped me.

"Get outta here would ya. Let us do our job and it'll be over with before you know it." This bitch is now testing my nerve. I built up my power again about to blaze him with it. He seemed to notice this time.

"What are you gonna do call for security." He said mockingly. I feel some one hold me back before I could unleash my flame upon him. You don't just let someone mock me then hold me back from it.

"Enough. This test is over." Sensei said from behind me. I calmed down when I realized it was him behind me.

"Claire come with me." He tells me.

I hope I'm not in trouble, or worse I failed this so called "test".

"Yes sir." I say quietly then followed him to a bench out in the garden.

"You did well Claire. You passed my little test I put together. It was made to see how much you really knew about you powers and how well you control them."

"Wait so you set up the whole thing?"

"Yes. I was also testing your sense of danger and how quickly you would respond to it. And you passed both with flying colors." I smiled relieved I passed both test. Then I realized I left Edwin upstairs all alone. I was in a sudden hurry to get back to him.

"So is that all of it or is there more?" He sighs and thinks about it.

"I think so you're free to go." He stood up motioning to the door as if he knew what I was thinking.

"Alright. Thank you Sensei." I bowed respectfully then rushed back to my room. Once I was in my room I heard the shower running. I knock on the door and it opened slightly.

"You in there Edwin?" I ask over the running water.

"Yeah why don't you come and join me?" He says teasingly. I blush fully at the offer and giggled. Then suddenly I became conscious about my scar on my left side.

"Don't be shy come on in." He teased again.

I was nervous even though I knew I shouldn't be. I normally don't think about it, but it was just that I was aware of it for the first time after I got it. It was almost healed now but I was still nervous about it. It stretches from the side of my chest down to about my hip. The water is shut off and he comes out and hugs me. Suddenly I realized I was crying.
