At their favorite tambayan in the university one early Wednesday morning, Maine was sitting alone crocheting a cardigan that she meant to show Ms Tan-Gan when she finishes it. Ruby, Pauleen, and Pia arrived with a blushing Pauleen holding a bouquet of red roses. Maine smiled at the sight of her friend happily reading what's written on the card.
Maine: Wuie, Pau, ang gaganda ng roses! Kanino galing?
Pauleen (proudly handing her the card): Galing kay Vic hihih.
Maine: Luh! At sino naman yang Vic na yan ha? Di mo ba ipapakilala samin yan? Alam ba nila Ryan at Allan?
Ruby (opening the box of doughnuts): Classmate namin sa Finance si Vic. Honggwapo, Meng!
Pia: At sobrang talino pa, Meng. Mabait pa!
Maine (taking a bite of the doughnut): Aba! Nakuha na yata ng Vic na yan ang loob nyo ah. May picture ka, Pau? Patingin? Heheh
Ryan and Allan arrived with coffee for each of them.
A few minutes later Val and Pat arrived with Sam, Je and RJ.
Ryan (snatching Pau's phone): Uuuy, ano yan? Sino to?
Pauleen (pumupuso ang mata): Si Vic. Ang lalaking may pabulaklak at 8AM. Haaaayy!
Allan: Ay hala, Dai! Lumalablayp kana? (Squealing like a school girl)
Val: Saan mo naman nakilala yang Vic na yan? Oy, in fairness, Poleng, ha. Shufo si Koya Vic, gurl!
Pat: Umayos muna tayo kasi may mga bisita tayo, baka ma culture shock sa kabaliwan natin. Guys, you know Sam and Je na. This is RJ, their other friend at poreber ni Meng bwahahahaha! (RJ's ears reddened at Pat's outburst)
Maine: Woy, Patring! Inaano ka ba? Pwede ba? Kailangan kong tapusin to ngayon okay? Hi, RJ, good morning. (He just gave her a bedimpled smile.) That's Ryan, Allan, Pia, Ruby and Pauleen.
RJ: Hello. Good morning.
RJ sat beside Maine holding a cup of coffee and an apple.
RJ: Hey, Maine. What are you crocheting?
Maine: Cardigan. Medyo trial and error kasi it's my own design and pattern. Hay sana nga this will turn out good kasi gusto ko sanang ipakita to kay Ms Tan-Gan.
RJ (holding the strand of multicolored yarn that Maine's using): Ang galing, madaming kulay in one ball. At ito yung effect ng colors? Yung Lola ko kasi nagagantsilyo rin, pero yung maninipis na thread yung gamit niya tapos white yung color. She made tablecloths, doilies, curtains, tablerunners, pillowcases. And I used to assist her just by holding the thread for her so they won't get tangled.
Maine: Ah, so di pala alien para sa'yo yung crochet. Hahahah. Uy, kuha ka ng doughnut dun oh, masarap yan, gawa ni Ruby.
RJ: Thank you. Apple nga pala for you. Oo, kahit sila Sam at Je tumatambay na rin sa bahay namin on Saturday afternoons. Kunyari ina assist nila si Abuela Mending, pero yung pinunta nila doon yung niluto naman ng abuela kona mga kakanin. And she loved doing it kasi natutuwa siya kila Sam at Je.
Maine: Loko talaga ng dalawang yun hahaha.
RJ: Sabi naman ni Abuela Mending, "Oh, mga hijo, you come back next week ha? Mga lunchtime, I will cook paella for you. And biko for merienda." Yung dalawa matatakaw opo ng opo sabay kiss sa abuela ko. Di ko alam kung sino nang-uuto at nagpapa-uto sa kanila e ahahahah. Sayang she passed already, 5 years ago. Marami kayong pag-uusapan since you share the same interest. (Gave Meng a sad smile)
Then they heard someone clear her throat. They saw Pia hovering over them.
Pia: Sorry po, mag poreber na may sariling mundo. Di niyo po narinig yung bell, punta napo tayo sa klase po. (Allan squealing somewhere in the background.)
Maine: Ay hala naku! Ang daldal natin, RJ ahahaha! (Stood up, gathered her stuff. Gave each of her friends a buss on the cheek)
Sam: Sabay nalang kayo, magkatabi lang naman departments niyo e. (Eyebrows wiggling)
Je: Siguro naman, Paps, you can manage. Eeeeee!
RJ (pulling his pinkish-red ears): Tsk, kayo talaga. Sige na, baka ma late na tayo. Bye, guys! Nice to meet you. And super thanks sa doughnuts, Ruby!
Then everyone went their separate ways. When asked by Ryan if they would go with him and Allan, Sam and Je volunteered to take Val and Pat to their classroom.
Meanwhile, at the Fine Arts building. Mag poreber RJ and Maine climbed up the stairs to the 3rd floor since he insisted on taking her to her classroom. They stopped by room 346.
RJ: Sooooo... MWF mo ng 9AM dito ka?
Maine (nodded and smiled): Sige na pasok nako, punta kana rin sa class mo. Thank you ha? (Holding out the apple)
RJ: Sige, Maine. Thank you din. Room 308 pala ako ngayon. Heheheh. You don't need to know that. Have a nice day, Maine!
Maine received a text, it's Val.

Fr: Valeen 👙
Ateng, kumusta yung kilig natin? Yung ngiti mo, 'Neng! Teka hanap lang kami ni Pat ng bote, paglagyan ng kilig mo.

To: Valeen👙
Huh? Saan ba kayo?

Fr: Valeen 👙
Yan tayo e! Mendoza, nakakalimutan mona kami dahil sa Tisoy na yan! Andito kami sa 344 oh! Magkatabi lang rooms natin. Hay grabe, nakakabawas ka ng ganda gurl!

To: Valeen 👙
Ay ahihih! Sorry, friend, nawala talaga sa isip ko. Ba't di rin kayo umimik kanina?

Fr: Valeen 👙
Paano kami iimik? Nung nag goodbye na si RJ, bigla kana rin umalis. Para kang na magnet e. Nakakainis ka!

To: Valeen 👙
Patricia 👢
Prends, sorry naaaaa! Ipag bake ko kayo ng nutella cupcakes. Ageeeyy! Smile na ha? Nutella cupcakes breakfast natin bukas. Haylahvyu!

Fr: Patricia 👢
Oo na, sige na! Bukas ha? Join daw ulit sila Sam at Je, sama na rin RJ mo.

To: Patricia 👢
Huh? Nag sit in yung dalawa jan sa class niyo?

Fr: Patricia 👢
Wala kaming teacher, ganun din sila Sam at Je. Andito kami sa hangout place natin with Ryan and Allan.

Fr: Valeen 👙
Woy bru! May meeting daw lahat ng teachers kaya lumayas kana jan at andito na rin sila Pia.

To: Valeen 👙
Patricia 👢
Ay ganun? Wala man lang nagsabi samin dito tsk. Sige punta nako jan.

She was walking down the hallway to the stairs when she heard someone call her name, it was RJ. Sabay na daw sila pumunta dun sa tambayan nila. The group agreed to go to the mall, maybe watch a movie. Their classes will resume after lunch.
