"Where are they? Hmmm. I thought about how I should respond and came up with a solution how to do so, without any other repercussions," Dick stated. "Give me my com-link, and I will notify them of this prisoner-black-box-of-death exchange."
"Very well," Ra's said, knocking on the door. "Cain, retrieve the boy's communication link," Ra's requested.
"Yes, sir," Cain said from behind the teak wood door.
A minute later, Cain arrived with the com-link at hand and fitted it onto Dick's head. Ra's cleared his throat, prompting Dick to follow up with his end of the deal.
"Jason, Damian, do you hear me?"
"Dick? Is this really you?"
"Yeah. Listen, Ja-"
"Grayson? Todd said that you died at the hands of the Assassins," Damian's twelve-year-old voice piped up.
"Sorry to disappoint, but I'm still alive. Listen, guys, the League of Assassins have me. They want to trade me for something you stole from LexCorp," Dick summed up.
"Family reunion time's over, kids," Cain said, plucking the com-link from Dick's head. "Meet us at the Kids Park in Nasr City. We bought off the cops, so don't expect there to be any interruptions. Meet us there in three hours, don't be late," Cain said, tossing the com-link onto the floor and stomping on it.
"Was that really necessary?" Dick asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Shut up, Grayson," Cain said, delivering a cross to Dick's temples.
Cain then proceeded to duct tape Dick's mouth, zip-tie his hands together and, for his finishing touch, fitted a bag over his head.
Mercenary base...
"What did we steal from LexCorp that the Assassins would want back?" Damian asked, tying up the last mercenary.
"I don't know, maybe the intel that Dick almost died, trying to protect," Jason snapped back, starting up the engine of the Nightbird.
"I highly doubt that. We could always save the information onto another USB drive. The thing that we stole must be something that cannot be copied. Let us go back to the construction site, from there, we can review the information on the USB drive and see if it can shed some light on the matter," Damian responded.
"Agreed," Jason said, speeding away back to the construction site.
At the construction site...
"Let's go over the flash drive," Jason said, hopping off the Nightbird.
"But we do not have any device to plug the flash drive into," Damian responded.
"At the mercenaries' compound I found a PDA. We can use that to review the intel on the jump drive."
Damian tossed the flash drive to Jason, who caught it with one hand, using the other to hold the PDA. Jason plugged the flash drive into the PDA, accepting the Open Files option on it. He then opened several documents, with information about the League of Assassins.
"Holy shit," Jason said in a flat tone.
"This is the most advanced piece of biological warfare I have ever seen," Damian stated.
"This explains everything. Scarecrow, Falcone, Sionis, hell, even Zsasz."
"Let us go to Kids Park," Damian said, turning back for his bike.
