After I made it into my dorm safely to my dorm, I sat on my bed, thinking about all the things that happened today. Asher's, err... Loki's words rang in my ears.
If he isn't the real enemy, then who is? The wolf? He seems to warn me more than try to harm me. I thought to myself.
I was so absorbed in my thoughts, that I almost missed my phone ringing. I panicked and quickly picked it up.
"Are you home yet? We're outside, hurry up and let us in. It's getting cold out here," Wren spoke loudly into the receiver.
"What?" I asked, confused.
"Don't tell me you forgot! We're moving into your dorm today. I told you that this past weekend," Wren said exasperated.
"Oh crap, I'll be right there," I yelled into the phone before jumping up and racing to the front door. Once I opened there, sure enough there stood Caldur and Wren with three others. None of them looked too happy to have been standing out in the cold.
"Sorry," I replied, holding the door open so that they could come in. "There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms down here. This is the kitchen and here is the living area," I stated as I showed them in. "Here is the washer and the dryer, feel free to use them whenever."
"Your room is upstairs, right?" Wren asked, looking at me.
"Yeah."
"Wait, how could you remember to move upstairs, but forget that we are coming?" asked Caldur in confusion.
"I don't know. I like to move my room around sometimes. It gets boring being in one place," I replied, shrugging my shoulders.
The group of men just shook their heads in disbelief, and made their way to the room of their choice.
Later that night, everyone was settled in downstairs and I laid in bed pulling the nice fluffy covers up to my ears. I tossed and turned before eventually falling asleep.
~ Once again I was surrounded by darkness, no sounds, no smells, nothing. All of a sudden I heard a clicking of nails on the hard ground. I turned around and seen a strange shadowy mass beginning to form. Its darkness seemed to be hazily illuminated in the surrounding blackness. Two gold glaring eyes appeared and two long sharp fangs emerged next. Finally, the form of a huge black wolf was complete.
Finally, I have found you. Mani, God of the Moon. You have no idea how long I have searched for you. The creature laughed. It's deep throaty laugh sent chills up my spine.
I backed away from the wolf as it stepped closer to me. His nails, click – clacked on the ground. A line of drool slipped from one of his fangs and fell, disappearing into the shadows.
Just wait until I finally get my claws on you, Mani. Nothing will keep me from getting what I want. I have guided you up until know, guiding you to go down the path that I create for you. Two of the seals are broken, only three are left. He chuckled, raising his snout into the air and taking a large whiff.
The sun has already fallen. Hahaha. You're the only one left, Moon God. Feeling lonely? I need you to free my father. The shadow wolf cackled.
I turned form the snarling beast and ran the other way.
You cannot escape me, Mani. The beasts low gravely voice echoed in the darkness behind me as his figure faded further into the distance.
I awoke with a start and realized that I was laying half in my bed and half on the floor. My blankets wrapped tightly around my legs. I pulled myself up on to my elbows and glanced at my alarm clock. It read 7:15am.
It seems awfully dark. I thought to myself.
I untangled my legs and walked over to my window. I peered out to see heavy dark grey clouds hanging in the sky. And some tiny white flakes fell very slowly from the sky.
"Are you kidding me?! It can't be snowing already! It just can't!" I exclaimed out loud.
I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. And then someone knocked on my door.
"Bryn, are you okay in there? Class is starting soon, you might want to hurry up so that you can get your jumbo cup of coffee," Wren called through the closed door.
"I'm fine, I'll be out shortly," I yelled back, pulling my warm fuzzy pajamas off to pull on a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a heavy black hoodie.
I plod down the stairs, pulling my bag over my shoulder as I walked.
"Are you alright Bryn? You look pale?" asked Caldur, who was sitting on the couch staring out the window.
"I'm fine, just had a weird dream," I mumbled.
"What kind of dream?" asked Levi, concern laced through his face.
"Why does it matter?" I combatted.
"Because, two of your seals have already been broken, your dreams might be relevant to you as a god," Wren stated.
"Alright. I was all alone, it was all black and then the shadow wolf appeared. He was making fun of me and then he said that I could never run away from him. Then he said that the sun had already fallen and the other three seals are next. Something about him needing me to free his father," I replied, looking at him.
"The sun has already fallen, freeing his father? I wonder what that means," Caldur thought out loud.
"Wait, the sun has fallen... Levi, do you have your mythology text book on you?" Wren asked, looking to Levi.
"Yeah," Levi replied, reaching into his bag and after a couple seconds, pulled out the thick textbook with gold colored lettering that read: Mythology of the World.
Wren reached out and grabbed it, and flipped through the multiple pages before freezing. He quickly scanned though a page before looking up to me.
"What is it?" I asked him, looking over his shoulder to read the passage out loud.
"The wolves known as Hati and Skoll are the sons of a powerful Norse legend known as Fenrir. According to legend, the fearsome wolf Fenrir, was captured by the great god Odin, and held prisoner by magic chains. In order to free their father, the two wolves must hunt down and devour their prey. Skoll chose to hunt down Sol, the Norse Goddess of the Sun; while his brother chose to hunt down the gentle Moon God, Mani. Century after century, the two wolves have stalked their prey, hoping to devour the god's souls to free their father. Once they succeed, however, the world will be plunged into utter chaos. The Vikings called this the events of Ragnarok. Ultimate destruction," I finished reading and glanced up to the shocked looks on the boys faces.
"If the sun had already fallen, then I am to assume that the wolf Skoll has already devoured the sun goddess," Wren stated, then he glanced at me. "That means that you are the only thing that is holding back Ragnarok from happening. Hati cannot devour your soul as it is now, because you have yet to fully awaken as the moon god. Once the rest of the seals break though..." he broke off and glanced to the others.
"He can devour your soul as well," Zain finished.
