"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul; that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. That's what I hope to give you forever." - The Notebook

Days, no weeks, had passed since Willow and I's small adventure and Willow had still acted like everything was completely normal. Which it was I suppose, but if we had been so close why did it seem like we were so far?
It's not like I had never been kissed before, in fact I've been kissed on numerous occasions. Being the normal hormonal seventeen year old guy came with its own perks.
But I don't know what I felt or why I felt it, whatever it was though, it was sure as hell bugging me to no end.
Countless nights spent daydreaming about the emerald jewels and the luscious fiery orange-red hair (newly dyed), flooding my dreams and hitting me like a hurricane.
Although to my slight disappointment, Willow never failed to disappoint.
Even with all her sudden changes, Willow was still Willow, and for me that was good enough.
"And now finally we have Kael and Jett".
My eyes avert it's gaze to my new lab partner, Jett Hastings and we immediately give each other our signature fist bump.
Jett was my best friend, in fact Jett was my brother.
I had known Jett since birth because of our mothers which had known each other since high school.
He was my brother, my mate- and apart from all that he was also my co-captain for the senior boys football team we were on.
He knew me like the back of his hand and likewise, he couldn't hide anything from me.
"Yeah man, is this great or what?!"
I chuckle at my best friend and his immature ways.
"Yeah it's alright I guess. "
"Alright? Your joking! What's up your ass now?"
"Just a tease, calm your self man".
Jett punches my shoulder and rolls his eyes.
"Anyway bro, still got your eyes on that Willow girl?"
My cheeks suddenly flush a deep red as the red haired beauty walks past our lab bench.
"Hiya Kael, Jett! How are you both this very fine afternoon?!"
I smile at her outgoing personality which never seems to fail to entertain me.
Jett chuckles slightly, "eh not doing too bad I s'pose".
"H-hey Willow, how are you?"
I watch as her soft gaze lands on mine and suddenly my breath hitches in my throat.
"I'm doing good thanks Kael", her wide smile still worn on her face as her eyes turn to the floor.
Everything about her was perfect. The way her hands danced when she was explaining something to the way she looked different every time I saw her. She has big out bursts when she disagrees or agrees with what your saying and she's different.
She's so different.
Different from anyone I had ever met in my life.
She had different eyes and different clothes.
Heck, her hair was different!
One thing about her hair stood out though, the way the colours that she changed it to were so, so abnormal.
She would change from pink to purple to blue to orange and the cycle never stops.
She changes her hair colour so often that I don't even have a chance to see her original roots showing.
Although she reeks of originality, I can't help myself but to feel slight curiosity. Perhaps Willow is hiding behind a thin curtain trying to disguise herself and who she really is.
Or perhaps, she is tired of pretending to be something she is not.
Or perhaps, you're really a girl named Rosy who likes to play with ponies.
Man up Kael, what happened to the boy who never looked twice at any girl who came his way?
What happened to the boy who only wanted girls for one thing only?
What happened to that boy, and who has replaced him? What happened to the boy who thought he could whoo any girl?
That boy has grown up.
Grown up.
The one thing I wanted to be when I was younger and the one thing I don't want to happen now.
Growing up is something extraordinary when you are at your youth. Like a special ability.
At the time we only saw one side of the two-sided debate.
Growing up in the past meant lots of parties and holidays, hanging out with your close mates and having fun.
We all grasped the opportunity to grow up, only realising a little too late that with everything that is done, a consequence closely awaits.
We realise now, that we are not as fond of growing up as we had expected. Finding out that getting wasted has it's own trail of questions and a whole lot of head aches.
Understanding the responsibilities, behavioural statistics and all other necessities that follow.
We now realise that the more we dwelled on the future and what we want to happen, the more we forget what we have and what is important to us now.
Life is a fast-ticking clock, and it doesn't wait for anyone.
