kassidy

benjy and i walked through the door. a flying object coming at us, i blocked benjy with my body and fell onto the ground covering him. the object broke, i realized it was a plate.

"are you okay?" i looked down at benjy, his eyes wide as his breath hitched. "benjy! are you okay?" i asked again, somebody ripped me up by my hair dragging me on the floor.

a sharp pain in my hands, legs, and face. glass was everywhere. benjy still laid on the ground but he looked at me.

"kassidy." he said, i shook my head.

"just be quiet, benjy." i caught a flying foot aiming at my stomach. a fist replaced it coming contact with my face.

"kassidy!" benjy cried out, leslie, my adopted mother, picked him up by the shirt dragging him.

"no! stop, he didnt do anything!" jackson, my adoptive father, punched me again.

"shut the fuck up!" he screamed and continued hitting me. i tried to block myself, but he kicked me in the ribs. i screeched in pain.

"kassidy!" benjy cried out again, he was balling his bright blue eyes out. seeing this made me angry, i jumped up kicking him off me, i ran towards benjy pushing leslie off him.

jackson picked me up from behind and slammed me on the floor, pushing me down onto the ground grabbing my hair and making me stare at benjy.

"how many fucking times do we have to tell you," he yanked my hair hardly making me scream. "stop sneaking out!" he let go of my hair, benjy still crying as leslie held his arms down.

"kassidy." benjy cried softly, i looked at him with soft eyes.

"its okay, benjy." i said, as he whimpered at leslie's roughness. leslie kicked me in the ribs, i groaned coughing afterwards, gasping for air.

"you wanna be like your sister, well you cant. your sister ran away from you, because you were worthless!" i shook my head.

"you're lying to me!" i screamed, earning another kick in the stomach. i groaned, hearing a scream from benjy.

"your sister hated you, with a passion. a burning passion, and your parent's death gave her a good reason to fucking leave your ass." i shook my head again.

"shut the fuck up!" i screamed, earning yet another powerful kick to the ribs, benjy being forced into the floor, he screamed my name again.

"why do you think it was so easy for them to leave? once your parents were gone, no one wanted you." i grunted trying to move around, they were really angering me.

"you're both bastards! and i hope you rot in hell!" after that i got multiple kicks in the ribs, stomach, and face. they finally left both benjy and i on the floor in pain.

"kassidy. kassidy." benjy touched me, but my body ached. i coughed in pain, trying to stand on my feet.

"kassidy, come on get up." he said, i slowly lifted myself up, benjy stood up trying to help me with his small self. his hand on my back as we crawled up the steps in pain.

we finally made it to my bedroom, closing the door behind us i checked myself in the mirror. i had a bruise on my cheek, my nose and lip was busted and leaking a small amount of blood.

i groaned and crawled to my bed. benjy coming up after me, crawling into my lap. he didnt say anything, he just held my hand and stared at nothing.

"i'm scared, kass." he said, i rubbed his back.

"its okay, benjy, i'm right here." i said rubbing his back. i kissed his forehead, gently rocking him. he slowly fell asleep, while i laid awake that night. i got up earlier than needed taking a shower covering my bruises and scars with makeup.

i finished getting ready and sat on my bed waiting for benjy to get up. finally my alarm rang as i woke benjy up gently getting him ready. i gave him some new clothes grabbing my bag and keys rushing out the door.

"you understand what happened yesterday?" i asked, he shook his head. "well you cant say anything, benjy, to nobody. understand?" i asked, he remained silent.

"for the sake of us both, benjy, please keep quiet and dont tell anybody." i said, he slowly nodded. i got out of the car helping him out and walking him in.

"i love you, benjy, have a good day and remember what i told you." he nodded and hugged me before running off. i got to my school rushing in getting to class on time for once in a while.

swazz and nate smiling at me right away. i sat down as they both turned to me.

"you're not late." i falsely chuckled, nodding.

"for once." i replied, earning some small laughs from them. i focused getting distracted by my thoughts.

"kassidy!" mr. murdock yelled, grabbing my attention.

"y-yes, sir?" i asked, he crossed his arms.

"what's the answer!" he shouted.

"fifteen?" i answered, sounding like a question.

"incorrect its seventeen, see me after class." i nodded, nate and swazz giving me looks.

"good luck, kass." i shook my head staring down at my paper. class ended as i slowly walked up to mr. murdock.

"what's going on with you? you're always late, you're always distracted, and your grades are falling." he crossed his arms, i twiddled my thumbs.

"sorry, sir. ive been stressed out lately, with too much responsibilities." i replied, he leaned back.

"if you need help come to me and we'll work it out, until then stay focused and keep working." i nodded walking out of class. i walked to my next class. soon enough lunch rolled around and i found myself at the table waiting.

i didnt want to eat, so i waited for the boys. johnson was the first to sit down.

"wanna hangout today?" he asked, i shook my head.

"sorry, johnson, i have to get benjy some new clothes." i replied, he frowned nodding.

"maybe i could come with you?" i shrugged.

"sure." nate say next to me.

"making plans without me again?" he joked, i just looked at him. "i'm joking, kass." he chuckled, i lightly chuckled.

"i know." i replied, derek sat on the other side of me.

"where's your food, mami?" he asked, i shook my head.

"i didn't want it, today it's gross." i replied, he nodded, side hugging me.

"okay, just checking." i nodded.

you guys dont care about me.

you dont like me.

stop pretending to care.

my mind repeated, i shook my head pretending to be cold.

"are you cold?" i nodded.

"just a little its okay," he slid off his jacket putting it on me. "thanks, nate." he smiled back.

"no problem, lil ma."
