To Be Expected

Chapter 4

Chapter 4:

" So, what are we gonna tell everyone?"

I looked up at my twin, his eyes were looking me right in the eyes. " We tell them... Ugh, I don't know!"

His crimson eyes darkened, my blue ones fogged over as I thought deeply about an excuse.

" We tell them I was sad because I have to leave. "

Caden shook his head," You aren't going Ally..."

I sighed," I don't have a choice.... Mom and Dad will die if I don't."

He grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him," Please... We must tell the Cullens. They can help-"

I shook my head,"Mom wouldn't want them in on this..."

He sighed as I stood and exited the bathroom.

That evening, Caden was playing call of duty with Emmett, I sat on the porch outside. Footsteps approached me and someone sat down.

"Hi Alex."

I looked over, Seth sat there, adorned in only a pair of cargo shorts and no shirt.

The night had a bit of a chill, yet heat radiated from him," Aren't you cold ?"

He smiled," Come on... I'm way to hot for that."

I smirked and rolled my eyes,"Egotistical much?"

He sighed," I meant it literally... Being a wolf, I stay really hot."

Embarrassment filled me."Oh...Sorry."

He smiled," It's okay..."

I stood up," I'm going for a walk... You wanna come?"

He nodded eagerly. I took off full speed, after a minute or two, a large chocolate wolf ran up next to me. I smiled and ran faster, leaving him in the dust. I leapt over a ravine and ran until I was knocked to the ground and pinned.

Another wolf had pinned me, it's claws dug into my back, I whimpered desperately. The wolf growled and bit deep into my shoulder, as I screamed, the wolf was knocked off me. I started scooting backwards, away from the huge grey wolf as a coca one growled at him.

Blood stained my white blouse, and I whined as pain pierced through me. A few minutes later, the wolves disappeared, only to return as Seth and a monstrous tan dude.

Seth came to my side and picked me up," You okay?"

I nodded weakly as the other guy glared at me.

"She shouldn't have been on this side any way!" He snarled,

Seth sighed," I forgot to tell her not to come over here..."

Then he started running, I was amazed when he jumped the ravine easily.

"I'm sorry Alex, I should've warned you about the treaty. Vampires aren't allowed in Lapush, except the Cullens.

I nodded," Why?"

He huffed," They are dangerous to the humans there..."

I raised an eyebrow.

"You think I'd feed from some one without permission?"

His eyes widened, and he started shaking a bit.

"You ask before you kill someone!"

I shook my head," I usually don't kill when I feed... I have no venom, I usually have a feeder nearby, they do it for the euphoria that it induces, sometimes though people aren't so willing so...."

He immediately relaxed and stopped trembling, a small smile lit up his face."Your not as bad as they say."

I smiled,"I'll take that as a complement. So Jakes with Nessie, what about you and Leah?"

He almost tripped, but recovered after a moment.

"Leah is.... Difficult, she likes some one who is taken. I am single, as usual."

I smirked," So.... Why?"

He laughed at my expression," Why what?"

I sighed," Why are you single...."

He smiled sadly." Wolves imprint on one a single person in their life time, when they make that connection, nothing can brake it. Most of us stay single so we wont have to break someone's heart."

At this point, we reached the Cullens' house. Edward sat on the step and looked up as he heard us, his golden eyes zeroed in on me and the blood that stained my shirt.

In an instant, he was at our side, the girl who'd been sitting by his side also moved in.

"Carlisle!" She called quietly, the tall blonde leader came outside and saw me.

Ten minuets later I was all patched up and ready to go.

" So what happened ?"

I sighed,"I accidentally crossed the ravine."

Seth immediately spoke up," It was my fault... I forgot to tell her and Paul was on patrol."

They all said to be more careful and I was set free.

Immediately I looked for Caden, he was on the couch waiting for me.

" You okay?" I nodded and took his hand.

"Are you..."

He smirked," Duh."

I glanced around the room, the girl with Edward was introduced as Tanya, their cousin from Denali. I already knew som things about her from Irina who had often looked after me.

I found Leah yet again in the corner staring at Nessie and Jake. I froze, then looked over her expression, it wasn't as angry as it had first seemed. She wasn't glaring at Nessie, she was staring at Jacob with the same dumbstruck expression Seth gives me. Realization pierced me, she loved him, whether he knew it or not.

At this moment, Seth walked over and sat next to me.

I smiled at him shyly,"So that's why she hates Nessie so much?"

Seth gazed at his sister," I don't know how she keeps it from him... She imprinted on Jake."

My eyes grew wide," That's so sad... She loves him... He loves her, he doesn't know?"

Seth shook his head, his black hair was thick and shaggy as it drooped over an eye. This told me one thing, I'd been here longer than I'd realized, his hair had been short and neatly cut.

I shook of the dreaded feeling that had over come me, "He doesn't even suspect... Maybe one day he'll realize it."

I nodded stiffly," Maybe.... I doubt it though."
