3rd person POV

"Baby you have to wake up, I know it hurts!"

Alex frantically shook the shapeshifter in her arms, streaks of blood stained her cheeks and dirt covered her body.

Her clothes were torn all over and stained red, Seth was in much poorer shape, shirtless and painted crimson.

She sniffled and took a few deep breaths,"Seth you have to get up! We don't have time please!"

Felix placed a restraining hand on her shoulder, his face grim,"We have to find a way out of the castle before we become they're prey."

She shook her head,"I-I can't just leave him Felix! Please, I'll drag him!"

The huge vampire shook his head,"He'd slow us down... We have to go."

She shook her head in denial,"Please... I love him..."

Felix's pitch black eyes closed for a moment, he was in bad shape, still missing an arm. He'd been able to locate his leg and let his venom slowly meld it back on.

"Fine... If something happens though Alex, we have to leave him." She nodded, satisfied to have won for the moment, Felix hauled the boy onto his shoulder with a huff of exertion.

The two of them were rushing full speed for the castle entrance, Felix took a deep breath and immediately knew something wasn't right.

"Wait!" He blocked her path, and let out a quiet curse,"They have newborns everywhere... They're looking for you."

She swallowed hard,"Do you think we could sneak passed them?"

Felix sighed,"I don't know."

Meanwhile with the Cullens

Jane was flooring the car's accelerator hard enough to make it go through the floor, her dark eyes glinted dangerously as she saw the time.

Another car followed her carrying Kate, Garret, the hybrid, Hulien and Nessie. In her own car were Tanya, Edward, two werewolves, and herself. Another car held the rest of the vampires the Cullens had insisted on bringing with them.

They swung into Volterra top speed, Jane ignored all off the protesting humans, she was beyond caring as she exited the car and sped toward the castle

They had tried... They fought with everything in them, and they lost. Seth was hidden in a nearby hallway, Alex was being held underneath Vladimir, several newborns were restraining Felix.

Stephan laughed at their efforts to escape,"Did you really think you had a chance?"

Alex clenched her eyes shut, she refused to let him see her weakness. The air was tense, a fire had been started by Stephan who was eager to watch them burn.

"Tear her head off, and let me here her scream!" He was almost giddy as Vladimir raised the girl into the air.

She growled at him and spat blood in his face,"You will never rule!"

He laughed,"Oh but I am already ruling!"

He tightened his hold and grabbed her hair, he readied himself to end her when a growl echoed through the room.

All the newborns and the two vengeance filled vampire looked toward the sound. A horse-sized wolf stood there, his teeth barred, he was gravely injured, but prepared to fight for his mate.

At this the vampire laughed,"A broken mutt! That is your back up!"

Vladimir snorted,"Pathe-"

He was cut off when something pinned him to the wall, he raised his eyes to meet a piercing golden gaze.
