Star woke up bright and early the next morning at 7:00 AM sharp. Like she always does now. She stood up and stretched gracefully beside her massive, king-sized bed, hardly a wrinkle on the side of the bed she slept on. She looked around her bland room. Her light blue wooden make-up table (not that she used any). Her dark mahogany wardrobe on either side of her royal violet bed with a hanging scarlet canopy above it. The retangular forest green rug near her bed and the only two things on the plain wintery white walls were a family portrait; where all the Butterfly's looked proud and serious, as well as a map of the kingdom of Mewni. Star stands beside her bed, smoothing out her dark blue nightgown and her long braided blonde hair. She yawns daintily and walks to her bathroom, which is much like her room, to brush her teeth, bathe and brush her hair to start the day off.
Afterward she goes back to her room to put on her normal light blue dress meant to be worn for balls but Star made her normal attire. She slipped on some light purple flats as well as her favorite red headband with bows on it and heads down to the royal dining room for breakfast by 8:00 on the dot. She stares at the lovely jade walls of the palace that she had walked by before so many times. Mostly there were portraits of past rulers and nobility but there were a few tapestries of ancient legends of Mewni. Star had recently begun to enjoy those old myths as well as her family history. Actually her favorite past ruler was King Nebula Butterfly, a former trouble-maker turned good. Once he had gotten serious with a short stay a St. Elmo's Reform School for Wayward Princes had completely changed his bad behavior and he had become one of the greatest rulers in Mewnian history. Star didn't realize she had stopped in front of Nebula's painting until she almost bumped into one of the waiting staff sent to make her bed.
"Oh! I-I'm so sorry m-my lady! I'm afraid that I d-didn't see y-you there" The maid said frantically, apparently a new hire of the palace.
"It is perfectly fine, miss. It was my fault for standing in your way." Star said simply as she continued on her way to the royal dining room. The maid stood in the doorway of Star's room thinking 'Had I heard the rumors wrong? I had thought the princess was supposed to more... Well, a bit more of a trouble-maker unless that trip actually had worked on her' The maid shook her head to clear those thoughts from her mind and  went to clean up Star's room.
Star, finally, had made it to the top of a curved staircase and quickly but quietly stepped down the stairs toward the dining room. Star inwardly sighed and thought 'There was a time when I would have rode that railing down and probably would have smashed the priceless, 100 carot, purple diamond without any sort of remorse... But things have changed and I cannot go back to my former rebellious self.' Star nodded, as if she were agreeing with herself as the guards pulled open the doors to the dining hall to allow her entrance.
She walked into the muted purple room to find her mother and father already there, waiting patiently for their only daughter to arrive. Star stood by her seat and said politely "Good morning mother. Good morning father." She then sat down and started eating her extravagant breakfast of eggs, bacon, some toast as well as a glass of orange juice. 'This is the oddest breakfast food I've ever had. What is the meaning of this strange meal?' Star wondered, not knowing why this food is what was served.
Her father cleared his throat loudly, causing Star and her mother to look toward the head of the table where he sat. Star looked at her father with confusion but her faced remained impassive while her mother, also impassive, knew exactly what was going to happen.
"Star, it has come to our attention, mine and your mother's," He started, making sure to include Moon in the conversation. "that you have been extremely well behaved after your stay at... You know." He said, not wanting to say the name of the place. Star nodded and thought 'Where is father going with this?'
Her father continued, "You have been so well behaved that your mother and I thought that maybe you could use some time off to have fun. All. On. Your. Own!" Her father said with a bright smile, hoping that might excite her or that she'll even believe that's the reason why they're sending her.
Star looked questioningly at her father and replied "Thank you both for the very considerate offer but I must respectfully decline. I have royal duties to our kingdom and when I become queen someday I won't ever be able to have time off." Star said politely, not buying the whole 'vacation' thing for a second.
'Why is father suddenly wanting to give me a vacation? He never did that before my visit so why now when I actually start behaving? Where would he even send me anyway?' Star kept her thoughts to herself.
King River sighed in defeat. He knew his daughter knew he was lying. Moon saw her husband sigh and took that as a cue to step in.
"Star, dear," Moon started. "We are worried about you. Your father and I believe that some time in the Earth dimension might help you learn a few things about being a leader." Moon said, mostly telling the truth but the little lie was still apparent in her words.
Star exhaled, too politely to actually sigh. "You want me to change." Star said staring at her food. Her parents glanced at each other worried and River replied "Honey, we will never stop loving you and we don't want you to change for us, we want you to change if you want to. If you want to stay like... this, that is fine but your mother and I want to see you become the best version of you you could possibly be." Her father stated as Moon stared at her husband in surprise. Moon knew her husband was very smart but rarely showed it.
Moon spoke up. "Star we want the best for you and we think staying with a nice family we meet with will be a good thing for you." Moon stated, hoping her daughter understood that she and River loved her enough to not want her to be a mindless and overly obedient princess.
Star knew her parents loved her and wanted her to be a good daughter but now... Now Star was confused. Her parents had sent her to St. Olga's Reform School for Wayward Princess after she had accidentally and recklessly set fire to the kingdom. She was sent there and after a few rebellious attempts, gave in and was reformed to be the perfect princess. A mindless person. An obedient pet. A good girl. But now... Now her parents don't want that. Now they want... Star didn't know what they wanted. "If you think it's best for me, then of course I'll go to Earth for you both." Star's face didn't give any indication of her thoughts and her parents just sighed relieved and said Star may be excused to do as she pleases while her servants pack her things. Star stood and left the awkward atmosphere of the dining room for the solidarity of her room.

"Oh River, are we sure this will be good for her?" Moon asked her husband. Moon was worried Star, if she did change back to herself again, would hate them for changing her not just once but twice.
"Moon, my dear, it is impossible to know for sure but I do know one thing. We can't have a daughter that is always well behaved otherwise the kingdom wouldn't be run properly. The kingdom needs a ruler that knows when they need to listen to other wiser than themselves and when to listen to their own hearts." River said, desperately hoping he was right. River and Moon were on a balcony over looking the kingdom milling about. Merchants coming and going with goods, families moving in and out of the city, normal people going about their normal lives. Not one of them understanding the pressure of being part of the royal family.
