"He hates me," Troye huffed as he laid on the couch in the private lounge, looking at Ryan who was laying on the floor. Jacob had went to get something from the car. "He thinks I want him to be sad or something, but I don't. Tyler isn't coming back, that's for sure."
"Did you try to tell him what happened to Tyler?" Ryan asked, rolling over to his back and stretching his hands above his head.
"Yes, but he wouldn't let me speak. He just kept saying that I didn't want him to be happy. Even if Tyler was alive, why does he want him back so much after all he did? Connor is literally a skeleton, and he didn't bring that on himself. The bruises are just fading, why does he want more? It's like he expects everything to just go back to how it was before."
"Maybe it is just the medication that is making him think like that?" Ryan asked, earning a nod from Troye. "I was sick once and they gave me medicine here... It made me feel weird."
"Yeah, it could be i guess. I had a cold once and the medicine I took made me tired."
"Maybe once the medication wears off he will listen better, right? The doctor said it was looking better already. We will just have to see. Say, are you staying here until he is out of the hospital?"
Troye shrugged. "Unless if they ship him home we kind of have to. Not that I would want to leave anyways, but Bri and Daddy are in charge of his papers and stuff now that Tyler is gone."
"So you just need to find him a new owner then he will be happy again," Ryan said as Troye rolled off the couch and laid on the floor beside him. "I'm sure someone would take him."
"He doesn't think he is good enough," Troye said with a sigh. "He says that he is too old and nothing special. That isn't true at all!
Ryan nodded again. "He is just sad. After he knows about Tyler he can work through that and find someone else."
"Yeah," Troye agreed. "Daddy will let him stay with us until he is totally better though, so he doesn't need to be worried about being on the streets again. That was all Tyler's fault. He ruined not only his own life, but took Connor down with him. He was supposed to protect him, not almost kill him."
Ryan grabbed the ball he had been playing with the day before and held it up with a smile on his face. "Why don't we get your mind off of that and play for a while?"
Troye had to nod. It had been far too long since he had someone to play with, let alone playing on his own. He got down onto his hands and knees and crawled over to Ryan, watching eagerly as Ryan rolled the ball back and forth between his hands. Troye bit his lip and lowered his chest close to the ground, tail high in the air and slowly flicking back and forth, his eyes were wide and following the toy. With a playful meow he pounced, hitting the ball out from between Ryan's hands and sending it across the room. They both chased after it, stumbling over one another and mewing and giggling as they got lost in their game.
Troye hadn't played like this since he was at Tyler's. Really, since he was a kitten. Sure he had toys at home and Jacob would play with him sometimes, but that wasn't the same.
All of the worries they had been disappeared, and the only thoughts they had were to get the toy before the other one did. Ryan was a tiny bit bigger than Troye, giving him a bit of an advantage. Eventually Troye just pounced on him and pushed him to the ground so he could grab the ball in his teeth and run away. Ryan mewed in protest as he got back to his hands and knees and hurried after Troye who had gotten across the room and behind the couch.
The curly haired boy had failed to pull his tail in behind him, giving Ryan something to urge him out with. He lightly grabbed Troye's tail, urging him to hurry forward and out from behind the couch, giggling as he tried to get away from Ryan. Ryan managed to get the ball from Troye, batting it across the room and sending them on a mad scramble to get it again. At one point they got so tangled they fell over, giggling loudly as they pulled their limbs apart and started the chase again. The room they were in wasn't huge, and the only place to hide was behind the couch, which Troye only fit behind.
The next time he got the ball in his teeth he scampered behind the couch, making sure to pull his tail in after him. Ryan meowed in protest, jumping onto the couch and sticking his hand behind it, trying to get Troye to move out. It didn't work though, Troye just rolled over and looked at Ryan with a teasing look, shaking his head to make the ball jingle. Ryan pouted and tried to reach it again, only to have Troye bat his hand away.
"What is going on in here?"
Troye hurried to roll over and run out from behind the couch when he heard Jacobs voice. The tall man was standing in the doorway with Brendon, looking at the mess in the room with amused eyes. Troye crawled over and pounced on Jacob's shoe lace, rolling over and looking at him. "Daddy, you should play with us!"
Jacob leaned down and scooped Troye into his arms, leaning him on his hip and carried him to the couch. "How did you two manage to break that lamp?"
Ryan crawled over and climbed onto the couch beside Troye, both nekos watching as their owners cleaned up the broken glass and discussed how they were going to pay for it. "Can you play with us noooooow?" Ryan asked, wandering to the end of the couch and leaning over it, sticking his nose into Brendon's hair and giggling at the random gesture.
Once the room was safe from the glass Brendon picked up a toy from the basket in the corner of the room and threw it to Jacob, grabbing one for himself.
"You two are something, that's for sure."
