"you don't know the half of the abuse"

Ella never liked using her powers. Not since Papa made her hurt someone. Ella had given herself a name because she never had any. She took it from the number on her arm, 011. When she was younger, Papa had given her a stuffed lion. Ella liked her lion. He was her only friend. She didn't like the other scientists. Papa said they were friends, but they never spoke to her unless giving commands. Only Papa answered her questions. Ella always pretended to be asleep whenever she heard the door creak open. It always meant something bad was going to happen.

"Today," Papa said, sitting on the edge of her bed, "We are going to do something amazing." Ella nodded, putting her lion back on the bed. They walked to one of the testing rooms. Ella hated the testing rooms. Every day, they were new 'surprises' waiting for her. Today there was a snow white cat sitting in a cage, hissing angrily. Ella understood the cat. She wished she could hiss until someone let her out of her cage as well, but they wouldn't have that. The wired device was put on her head, and Papa and the scientists left the room, standing behind a glass safety panel. Papa nodded at her, and Ella stared at the cat, tears forming in her eyes. She didn't want to kill it. Ella looked back at Papa; a frown had formed on his face. Ella stared harder at the cat, tears overflowing as it called out for help. A sob left her mouth as the cat's whines got more and more pained. Ella released the cat, looking back to Papa. Ripping the head device off, she shook her head, sobbing as tears streamed down her face. Ella knew she would get punished, but she wouldn't hurt anyone again.

"Papa! Papa!" Ella screamed as two scientists took her away. Pietro looked up as he heard the little girl's screams. He would hear them at least once a week. He wondered how cruel Strucker had to be to torture his daughter like that. Wanda often tried to reach her mind out to the little girl but there was nothing there. She was a ghost that haunted them with her screams.
