AUTUMN'S POV-
I didn't go to school today. My body was too sore. I swear last night they had both took their anger out on me more than they ever have. They yelled at me claiming I need to start making money for this family cause we need it.
From May: Hey babe, why weren't you at school? We missed you!!
To May: I wasn't feeling good:(
From May: Awe I'm so sorry I hope you feel better and come tomorrow!
"Autumn!" My mom yelled "GO GET MORE BEER!"
I sighed, put on my shoes, and walked downstairs. I took some money out of my mom's purse quickly and left the house. I walked to nearest store and I made my way to the makeup section to grab some things to cover up my bruises. I also grabbed some ointment before going to the alcohol. I grabbed the biggest pack they had and turned running into someone.
"Oh I'm so sorry!" I quickly apologized
"No I- Autumn?" I looked up and saw Ryan
"Um, hi Ryan" I tried to smile but it hurt my face
"May said you were sick?" He questioned
"Yea well, I wasn't feeling well this morning but I'm feeling better now" I lied
"What happened to your face" he raised on eyebrow
"It's nothing" I licked my lips "I have to go, my parents are waiting"
"Wait! We're all going to hang out at May's tonight you should come too" he insisted
"I'll think about it but I have to ask if Carmen will give me a ride" I shrugged
"I'll give you a ride" Ryan smiled
"No, you don't have to do that" I shook my head at him
"I'm not giving you a choice" he smirked pulling out his phone handing it to me "here so I can text you later about when I'll pick you up"
I rolled my eyes and typed in my number in his phone before handing it back. He smiled at me and shoved his phone back in his pocket.
"I'll see you later" he waved and we both walked away

Ryan had texted me not too long ago saying he was on his way, so now I'm outside waiting for his car to pull up. I had made sure to cover my face the best I could but my parents don't make that an easy task. It's not too long that he pulls up and I rush into the passengers side of the car quickly getting in.
"Thanks again for the ride" I smile at him
"Yea no problem, just trying to help out" he glances over at me with a small smile before pulling out and driving towards May's house.
"Their parents are still gone for another week, right" I asked
"Yea, I think they don't come home till Sunday, but you never know with them" he chuckled and I just shook my head
"That's true, their trips always last longer than they say" I agreed. We pulled up in front of their house and he stopped the car turning it off. I hopped out and we both walked up the driveway together.
"Hey!" May opened the door greeting us and she looked over at me "AUTUMN!"
"Hi" I smiled and she gave me a heart warming hug
"It was too long without seeing you, don't make us go through it again. Do you know what it's like to have to eat lunch with just Carmen?" She asked pulling away making me laugh
"I heard that!" Carmen yelled and we both laughed
"Come on" she gestured for us to follow her inside into the living room where pizza was spread out.
"Autumn, something's on your face, let me get it" Carmen said rubbing my face. I winced a little and she continued to wipe "oh my god"
"What is it" I asked shocked
"What happened to your eye" she frowned and I gave her a confused look. I walked into the bathroom and looked in the mirror seeing she had wiped my makeup off exposing my black eye. I sighed and took out some of my makeup I brought in my bag putting it on to cover it up before walking out again.
"I ran into my door at home when I was texting May" I explained and she gave me an unsure look.
"It looked bad for you to just have ran into a door" she pushed
"I guess" I shrugged and she only nodded. We all sat around the living room eating pizza while taking turns playing Mario Kart.

"How much longer are your parents gone for" I asked May taking a bite of my ice cream
"They said next Sunday but my mom mentioned something about how they might need to stay longer because of some work issues" she shrugged
"Gee, that must suck" Carmen sighed and I stayed silent. I wish my parents were always gone on business trips.
"Yea but I mean, it's whatever" May shrugged "Autumn, what about your parents? You never talk about them or anything"
I froze in my spot, with my spoon halfway to my mouth. I put my spoon in my bowl and shrugged.
"Well I'm an only child, um my parents are usually... working I guess. I don't see them much" I lied and they nodded
"Really! That's it, you always say how your parents will get mad or something" Carmen asked
"We have cameras around the house for security and my parents use it to check in on me and stuff. It's lame really" I continued to lie
"Well alright then"
