Chapter 11

The week passed by in a blur of me checking the baby, my blood, and Mom's health. I tried controlling her movements through my blood, making sure to erase her memory afterwards. If I could move her physically short distance, I could control her power long distance. My fire would be used by the baby and mix with Mom's as well. This would allow me to control my blood, and through it, Mom's blood.

I had to returned to Charlie on Sunday. The time difference gave me the whole day to do nothing. I decided to go scouting, looking for other supernatural creatures that may know me, as Charlie had gone fishing. I change into shadowhunter gear, gear I had modified for my wings and for it to be stronger.

I climb to the top of the house to be free of the trees that would snag on my wings.

I spent a while just flying and feeling the wind under my wings, doing circles, spins, and other tricks.

After a while, Puriel and Peniel joined me; I had teleported back with them in tow to keep me company and help being spies and such. After all, no one would suspect a bird of prey in such a green and prey filled area.

I climb the sky for a couple second and then drop like a stone. Twirling, I flew low to the ground between trees. It's much harder than I can describe, given my wing span and how close together the trees were. Suddenly, I see a flash of blonde hair. Flapping quickly, I followed the blonde vamp.

Pfft, the vamp thought he was so fast, running at vampire speed, but I could see him just fine. Not only see him, follow him too. And I'm even running! I'm twice as fast when I'm running! Suddenly, he crouches down.

I land on a branch of a nearby tree that gives me a clear view of him. Then I spot a herd of deer. I frown. What was he doing hunting a deer? That wouldn't do anything for him. Animal blood wasn't nutritious for vamps. Then the blonde turned his face up, sniffing. He turns towards the tree I was on.

Crap! I hadn't masked my scent, just my body. I quickly drew a rune that masked my scent. He had probably already smelled me in class, if he recognizes me it wouldn't be good. He-Jasper frowns.

He sniffs again. I froze, making no move. Then I relax. Jasper shakes his head and goes back to stalking his deer.

I watch as he took down one and snaps its neck, and proceeds to eat it messily.

Gross. Poor thing. But I can't really say that, being a shadowhunter. Oh whatever.

I wait till he was done and left. I bury the now bloodless deer, making sure it looked even and what it looked like before. It is, after all, my job as a shadowhunter to clean up after stupid vampires who can't be bothered to hide themselves well enough.

I follow Jasper's scent, proceeding on foot instead, just in case he sees the leaves and twigs moving in ways they shouldn't be.

He was soon joined by the bronze-haired boy-Edward.

A strange feeling went through my chest and I find myself having to take a deep breath.

How odd.

Edward sits down on the large rock.

"I've had 3 deer, and yet the mere thought of her blood makes me want to hunt. How do you do it?" Edward asks desperately.

"She smelled pretty good, but not as much as you describe." Jasper cocks his head.

They look at each other, seeming to communicate without words. But that can't be possible, vampires don't have special abilities.

"Yes. Maybe." Edward murmured.
