The Akatsuki's New Leader (a Naruto fanfic)

Chapter 6

It's been about a day of us walking. We are close to the Hidden Leaf. I can feel it. All day Nagato and Rin have been catching up, while Minato has been trying to talk to me. "Are you excited to come home?" Minato asks.

"I'm not staying Minato" I say.

"Will you at least stop to see mom?"

"No"

"Why not?"

"Because if leaving was the only way to get her attention, then she doesn't deserve to see me. Plus it's not like she'll care anyways. Too busy be Hokage right?" I say. "And if we go to see Aunt Sarada then she will lock us up. We are still criminals remember?" Rin inserts. Minato stays silent.

"Sora did you inform the rest of the Akatsuki on what is happening like I asked?" I ask. I already knew the answer to this of course, but I just wanted to ask anyways. He probably just made up something to tell them. Sora is always on top of his game. He is my assistant after all.

"Of course Miyako sama. I told them that you were taking a vacation and will return shortly" Sora says. I nod. I look over at my brother. I think I accidentally shut him up. Oops I think. I look behind me at Aoi. He has been rather quite all day and he has stayed behind everyone too now that I think about it. I start walking a little slower.

"Hey you okay Aoi?" I ask. He looks down at me. I get chills down my spine. He looks like if he had the chance, he would rip my throat out right then and there. His eyes have become a strange dark purple color.

"Yeah I'm fine" He growls. I've never seen someone like this before. Could it be that demon he was telling me about? Either way, I think he has forgotten who he is speaking to. I am still his higher up.

"Know your place" I hiss. I walk away annoyed. I catch back up to my brother and Sora, who seem to be having a nice conversation about ninja tools.

"What's wrong Miyako sama?" Sora asks me. My brother listens curiously. I sigh.

"It's Aoi" I say. "I don't know what is wrong with him, but he growled at me. I don't know who he thinks he is messing with, but he is trying the wrong person. I am still his higher up and he should show me respect" I don't know why I'm getting so upset about this. It's just something about Aoi. I don't really know how to put it into words honestly.

"I see" Sora nods. Minato looks at me confused. I don't expect him to understand. He doesn't understand how big of a deal I am. He still sees me as the little kid I was when I left. But in the time I have been gone, I've changed. I am no longer that little kid and I need him to realize that.

Minato puts his hands behind his head. "I don't get why he should. You're still just a kid. I don't even get why Sora calls you 'sama' like you are some big deal" He says nonchalantly.

"She is a big deal you moron. She is the leader of an elite S class criminal organization. She deserves their respect" Rin inserts before I could answer. I just nod in response.

"No wonder they say Miyako is the smart one" Nagato laughs. Rin and I laugh along with him. Minato's face turns red.

"S-shut up!" He says walking faster. We laugh harder.

"Wow I forgot how pretty your laugh was Miya" Rin says with a soft smile. I feel my face heat up. It's not like it's been that long since I last laughed. Rin just stares at me with a huge smile on her face. I roll my eyes and walk faster.

As we continue to get close to the Hidden Leaf, I begin to feel a bit anxious. I try to convince myself that nothing will happen. But that little voice is the back of my mind is constantly reminding me of the chance that we will be caught and arrested. I don't have time for that. It would interfere with the plans. I cannot afford anything to get in the way of my plans.
