Painful tears trickle down your sweet, gentle face
I mayn't see, but from the distance I sense
Though far from you, I feel your place's ambience
Your heart that yearns for him, my care'll encase
II
Though I can't embrace you, I'll protect you
Though you're human, you're rose whose petals strew
Though you love him, I'm one who'll love you more
Though we'll never be, he, I won't abhor
III
My sword, offered for your guardianship
My heart, I steel to prepare for hardship
I sigh to be a suitor you'd accept
Yet I am unskillful, even inept
IV
How is it that your heart I cannot steal?
Is it by its gaze at him, far from me,
by my choice of hiding conspicuity,
or by cruelty if my love, unreal?
