It was Halloween night.   There was nothing fun to do in Greenville.   Unless you were  ten.  A few friends came over to my house. We snacked on candy and watched some bad scary movies.

"This is boring," I sighed.

"What else are we supposed to do, _____?" my friend asked.

"I have an idea.  Let's sneak out of town and go to the old factory."

"The thneed factory?  That place is old and creepy."

"Exactly.  It is the perfect thing to do on Halloween."

"Are you serious?" another friend asked.

"Yeah unless you're too scared to go."

"Im not scared,  I'm in."

We packed a few things into a bag and headed out of town.  The factory had been closed for a few years.  It was decrepit and rumors of a spirit that haunted the factory spread like wildfire.  It was something along the lines of Once-ler, the guy who built the place, couldn't handle losing  his business and stayed there until he died.  But I didn't believe it.  I mean that was just an urban legend.  We left the house and headed into the forest.  One of my friends clung to my arm with every snapping branch and odd noise.  After walking for a while we came upon the factory.

"A-are you guys sure about this?" my friend asked.

"We have already come all this way," I laughed with my hand on the handle.  I turned my head back slightly, "you can always wait out here by yourself."

"No!  Wait! I'm coming!"

The door creaked open with a rusty sound.  I flicked a flashlight on as I eagerly entered the factory.  A noise scurried at our feet as a few rats ran past us.  My friend let a loud scream escape her lips.  The rest of us stared at her.

"Wow, really?" I asked looking back at her.

Something moved at the top of the stairs.  She saw it and shook in her place.

"_____, there is something, or someone, up there.  I-I just can't do this!"

"Nothing is up there.  No one has been out here in years.  Wanna go up there so I can show you?"

"No!"

"Whatever, I'll be back," I said heading up the stairs.

"_____, don't."

I shook my head and continued up the stairs.  Each step creaked under my feet.  I shone the flashlight around seeing nothing around.  When I got to the top I flashed the light around seeing nothing either.  Two large doors were on my right and to the left was a long hallway.  I headed right and pushed open the heavy door.  Inside was what looked like an office.  I walked in.  The door seemed to be propped open, but it slammed shut behind me.  A shiver ran through my spine, but I chalked the closing door up to the state of this old building.  I walked further into the office to find a large chair at the desk.  I sat in it and spun around.  My feet stopped the spinning  motion when I swear I saw a pair of bright green eyes staring at me.

"I think I will head back down now," I said to myself mainly trying to assure myself nothing was there.

I stood up and hurried to the door.  My hand shook the handle, but the door wouldn't budge.  I'd be lying if I said I wasn't completely horrified at this point. I looked for another way out and found a set of stairs leading out the back.  A sliding glass door was the only thing  between me and freedom.  I hurried over.  And sure enough that door also wouldn't budge.  My friends yelled from downstairs, and even though I yelled back my voice never reached them.  I paced around the room.  They had to be playing a joke on me.  I went to sit in the chair, but when I spun it a figure was already seated upon it.  I jumped back as the figure grinned.
