You loved your brother, of course you did, but he never really understood the whole idea of not needing to be protective 24/7.
Tony practically raised you, you were a few years younger than him and when your parents passed away it affected you a lot more because you were at home with them, whilst Tony sometimes wasn't.
He was your only family, unless you could count an A.I
When he became an Avengers, you worried about him.
At first, Tony was the type of guy to look after his own and his own only but then he changed; your brother became a guy that would help other people for nothing in return, he did it because he knew that it would make their lives better and no one deserved to have a life that they didn't think was worth living.
Due to the whole team living in the, used to be STARK, tower – they got to know you well and vice versa.
You got to know one Avenger exceptionally well, Clint Barton or otherwise known as Hawkeye, Legolas, Bird Brain, Robin Hood etc.
Your brother wasn't exactly aware of Clint as of yet, well he was aware of Clint obviously but not of the relationship the two of you had.
The rest of the team knew, with the exception of Sam as he was new, but the relationship had been a thing for the best part of a year.
It wasn't that you didn't want to tell your brother, you did, however it hadn't come up in conversation and you didn't want to just spring it on Tony randomly.
You and Clint were cuddled up on the sofa, in the living room, watching some mindless TV show that neither of you could be bothered to change because the remote was just too far.
Clint aimlessly fiddled with your hair whilst you rested on his chest drawing little patterns on the palm of his free hand.
"Well doesn't this look cosy" you heard an all too familiar voice from behind the sofa.
Both you and Clint quickly sat up, turning around in the process "Hey Bro" you said with awkwardness laced within your voice.
Tony didn't answer you, but instead glared at Clint "My sister? Oh come on Barton, you could have gone for Nat, or Maria but no, you go for Y/N" Tony sighed and then ran a hand through his hair as he spoke.
Clint glanced at you before standing up "We didn't exactly plan it Tony" he said in defence but that just caused your brother to scoff and roll his eyes.
"Didn't plan it? Of course you didn't. I just want to know, why the heck is this a thing?" Tony quizzed, his voice raising towards the end "I mean, any other occasion I would be happy to find out you were finally with someone Barton but this...this just crosses a line" your brother shook his head as he spoke.
You stood up and looked your brother in the eyes "Crosses a line? Come on Tony, how is this crossing a line? We live with each other, it's not as if he is just some random guy I met" your tone was harsh whilst you spoke to him "We are actually happy together Tony – we just didn't know how to tell you about all of this" you explained but your brother didn't stop glaring at Clint.
Clint sighed and moved towards Tony "Would it make it better if I asked for permission?" he asked as he held his hand out, expecting Tony to shake it.
Tony shook his head, causing Clint to drop his hand back to his side, "No" he stated bluntly "'Better' would be you never having asked her out in the first place"
