"You would trade your life for a story!?  How risky of you," he contradicted, although sounding quite pleased with himself.  "Well, I suppose I have to tell you." He thudded down on to the floor and crossed his legs.  "I would make you sit, but you are in a tricky situation."

I nodded in agreement as I realized my arms were still pinned to the board.  What if he burns me to death, like Jesus? I thought to myself.

"Let's begin," he boomed, his voice echoing for miles, sprinting out of the enclosed space and to every end of the world.  I could feel the whole world thinking they were crazy for hearing his voice.  "I will start by telling you a little secret.  I was killed in this library too, around 50 years ago.  It was in this very room too.  Other demons, like me now, attacked me, and I died."  A heavy silence filled the Study Palace.

I then thought back to all of the times on November 1st, when someone dying was reported on the local news.

"This year, a body was found in the bushes near our wonderful library"- 5 years ago
"Local citizen found dead on Queen St."- 4 years ago
"And yet another death. Samuel Brooks found unconscious on the library steps."- 3 years ago
"I don't know what it is, but Jenny Livingston died 2 blocks away from the library."- 2 years ago
"Sarah M. Found dead in the trees surrounding the local library. Next year we will have people checking it out. Whoever is committing these horrible crimes better watch out. Your time is done in just 365 days."- 1 year ago

Fear struck me like a bullet, aiming straight for my heart. "Demon, you have to listen to me, now! There are people coming for you this Halloween. You have to leave, and no one can be found dead here, ever again. Do you want to sit, trapped in a container for the rest of eternity? I don't think so."

This got his attention. "But where do I go?" He exclaimed. "I know you are telling the truth. I am a mind reader." Suddenly, his face grew grim. "But it's not like I deserve to not get caught. I've done so many wrongs in my life."

Although this demon is ugly and scary and huge, he has a heart. Personally I wouldn't blame him. I bet I would understand. "Remember, you should forgive yourself, and not dwell on it thinking you are a bad person- er- demon. Everybody, even the paranormal, can make mistakes."

Now it was his turn to agree. "Maybe I should just let it out, and I won't feel so bad after all."

Was this demon really a nice guy? "Yeah," I responded, trying to cheer him up."

He began to share his story. "It all began when I was 6 years old. My mom was a-" the door opening interrupted his beautiful speech.

We both gasped in horror. We should have escaped sooner, I thought to myself, trying to hold back tears for him.

"I have finally found you," the person said, a grin spreading across its tiny face.
