I watched as the snow silently fell, blanketing the foreign streets. My family had just moved and I was starting a new life. For most teenagers it would have been a big deal, leaving all my friends behind and such, but I didn't really have any of those considering all of my free time consisted of training. Ever since I took up the sport of figure skating three years ago I've been absolutely devoted. I'm at a considerable disadvantage since I started my skating career fairly late at age fifteen when most professionals start when they are very young, because of that I've thrown myself into skating putting myself on an intense training regimen to help me get ahead although every great skater has one I like to think that mine is different.
When I first talked about starting, my family and friends constantly told me that I wasn't being practical and I should just make it a hobby, they didn't understand, to me skating wasn't just something I was interested in it was something I was passionate about, something I'm still passionate about. When I'm on the ice I completely lose myself, even when I watch other skaters, it's such a beautiful thing to watch and to be a part of and since my start I've won a few small junior championships and I came in fifth in the junior grand prix. I wanted to take my career to the next level, I wanted to make.my senior debut and compete in the grand prix, but that wasn't going to happen if I didn't focus, besides I still had a ways to go.
I hunched my shoulders against the wind as I ran across the street to the skating rink on the other side of the road. It was still pretty early in the morning on a Saturday so there weren't many cars out.
I ducked into the building and made my way to the front counter where a small woman was stationed reading a magazine. "Hey yu-" the woman began but stopped after noticing I wasn't the person she was most likely expecting me to be. "Oh! Hello there!" She said cheerfully "hi, can I um, is the rink open?" She beamed, "of course! You need me to get you some skates?""Oh no, um thank you though, I have my own" I said gesturing to my bag. "Ok then go right on in" I nodded my head and made my way to the rink.
I skated out onto the ice letting myself melt into the skating like I always do. I wasn't going to do my regular practice today, I just wanted to get a feel for the new rink. I moved my body as I became one with the ice. I jumped and spun in the air in a simple toe loop. I was just doing some basic beginner style stuff, nothing fancy.
When I finally stopped, panting and out of breath I heard clapping behind me. I turned to see two men standing behind me, and I jumped at the sight of them, Viktor Nikiforov and Yuri Katsuki! I felt my face heat up at the sudden embarrassment. "AH! I-uh I'm sorry I'll just- uh I'll just be going!" I yelled as I quickly fled the rink to retrieve my bag. I had remembered hearing something about the two of them being in this part of Japan but I never thought they would be here! I was frantically trying to unlace my skates when I heard Victor's voice come from above me. I looked up so see the Russian skater standing in front of me "no, no, it's ok, please stay that was beautiful." I stopped, every muscle in my body tensed. "What?!" I blurted. I was absolutely shocked that Viktor Nikiforov, was actually complimenting me! I've been watching him since I was young, even though I haven't been skating for long I always enjoyed watching it.
Viktor smiled "you're skating, it's very beautiful..."
"Oh! Um...Th-thank you!" The skater laughed "I-uh I'll be going! So sorry to bother you!" I said as I ran from the rink with my stuff. I raced all the way home and into my room slamming the door behind me. I was completely out of breath. What the hell just happened? I can't believe it, I just met Viktor Nikiforov! "Oh my God I'm such and idiot!" I yelled as I hit myself in the head. "I just met Viktor Nikiforov, arguably the best skater in the world and I ran away!" Well of course I ran! It's Viktor Nikiforov! I sighe, frustrated with myself, I just stood there fumbling over my words like and idiot. I must have looked so dumb. I hung my head burying my face in my hands, then a thought occurred to me and a smile spread wide across my face. I lifted my head from my hands, "Viktor Nikiforov just called my skating beautiful!" I cheered as I pumped my fist in the air and jumped around my bed room.
I sat down on the end of my bed with a huff. This is amazing, Viktor just called my skating beautiful! Me! I flopped backwards and looked up at the ceiling with my arms spread wide, "this is the best day ever." I whispered.I jumped up off my bed startled when I hear knocking at my bedroom door. "Y/n, honey, are you alright?" I heard my mother's voice. I sighted before replying, "yeah, why?"
"We'll I heard your door slam, it woke me up and it's pretty early for you to be back from the rink already" I got up and opened the door. "Yeah, sorry mom, I'm fine I didn't mean to wake you." I reassured her. "Are you sure? Why are you back so early?" She questioned. "Yeah, I'm sure, go ahead back to sleep it's fine you don't need to worry, I'll tell you about it at breakfast." I said. She narrowed her eyes at me before she sighed. "Ok then, you can tell me at breakfast, don't really know if I'll be able to get back to sleep though." She said before she padded back down the hallway. I sighed and closed my door. Well if I wasn't going to skate then I should go for a run, I shouldn't waste the morning, besides maybe I can get to know the terrain if I go out.
