I had been running for about fifteen or so minutes when I noticed Yuri and Viktor walking on the other side of the street. I sped up and made a Beeline for my house. I checked my watch and noticed that it was almost six thirty, I must have gotten distracted along the way because I had completely lost all track of time. I usually only run for about twenty minutes or so but I had been gone for more than thirty. I had been thinking about what had happened at the skating rink the entire time, I just couldn't get the image of seeing Viktor Nikiforov and Yuri Katsuki out of my head.
I got to my house and walked in, I could smell breakfast as soon as the door opened. Mom probably couldn't get back to sleep and started breakfast early. "Hey mom" I said as I walked into the kitchen. She smiled. "You want any breakfast? I'm sure you're hungry." She said as she made me a plate. "Yeah, thanks" I said as I took it. "So what was it you were going to tell me?" She asked. Damn, I had hoped she'd forgotten, but of course she didn't. "Well I went to the rink this morning like I always do and well...Viktor Nikiforov and Yuri Katsuki showed up..." I said as I shoved a fork full of food in my mouth. My mom looked at me. "You mean the ice skaters that you're always talking about?" She said wide eyed. I nodded my head. "Well what happened?!" She asked I felt my face redden as I remembered the embarrassing moment. "I kinda...freaked out...and ran..."
"You ran!?"
"We'll actually I skated" I corrected. "Why did you run?!"
"I was nervous, we'll I didn't get far, just to the bench to take off my skates before Viktor approached me..."
"Viktor what!?" She screamed "quiet mom or you'll wake the whole neighborhood, use he came up to me as I was frantically trying to untie my skates." I said still red in the face. "Well did he say anything?" She asked. I nodded my head "what did he say?!"
"He said my skating was beautiful..."
"Y/N! That's so amazing! I'm so happy for you!" She said as she suffocated me in a bear hug. I chuckled "thanks mom but after that I really did run, I don't know what I'm going to do, maybe I can find another rink nearby-"
"No, you're going to use that rink"
"But that's where Viktor and Yuri practice!" I protested. "You can't avoid them forever y/n!" I sighed. She was right, I couldn't run from them forever. "Well I can try" I said "no, you are going to go back to that rink when you're done with breakfast" she said. I sighed, she was right, I couldn't avoid them forever and I needed to practice so I guess I was going to have to suck it up and go over there, but I still hoped they weren't over there and that they were done for the day, maybe that was going to be my schedule so I could use the rink and not have to worry about seeing them. I wasn't that I didn't like them it was exactly the opposite. They were my hero's Viktor Nikiforov and Yuri Katsuki were both amazing skaters and I finally had the chance to meet them but I was terrified, they were both professionals and I had only been on the ice for three years. I exhaled a long exasperated breath. As I set down my fork, "I won't go back today, but I'll go tomorrow" I said as I stood up. My mom glared at me "you usually spend most of your time in the rink, why is today any different?" She asked "I think I just need a break." I said "you're not going to get any better if you take a break"
"Mom everyone needs a break once in a while"
"We'll you're not everyone if you want to become the best with your background then you need to practice every chance you get you know this, and that's never been a problem before, you've thrown yourself into skating." I ran my hands through my hair, frustrated. She had a point, I couldn't take a break I need all the help I could get if I was going to win anything. Left the kitchen to go get my bag, the hope that neither of them would be there still lingered as I made my way out of the house.
I arrived at the rink for the second time that day when I noticed Yuri was talking to the woman at the counter, my heart leaped into my throat as I slowly opened the door. Yuri's attention turned to me and I felt my face redden. I tried to swallow past the lump in my throat but I couldn't. He smiled and approached me. I felt my pulse quicken, I thought my heart was going to race out of my chest. "Hey, you're the girl who was here earlier right?" He said. I nodded my head vigorously trying to find words. He extended his hand to me, "hi I'm yu-"
"You're Yuri Katsuki!" I blurted out and quickly cover my mouth with my hands. I didn't know if it was possible for my face to get any redder but u think it just did. "I- I mean, ah I'm so sorry it's just I've looked up to you forever, you're so amazing!" My eyes widened, what was I saying!? Yuri's cheeks turned a light shade of pink and he rubbed the back of his head. "Oh my goodness I can't believe I just said that I'm so sorry" I said. Yuri offered a slight grin, "it's alright, and can I ask your name? You look familiar, I feel like I've seen you before." He said. "Oh, uh my name is y/n l/n" Yuri's eyes widened. "Aren't you that figure skater who only started three years ago?!" Yuri asked. I nodded my head "that's amazing! I've heard that you've won a few junior championships and you plan to make your senior debut soon" I just Stared at him wide eyed, I was in complete shock, Yuri Katsuki just said I was amazing. "I- thank you." Yuri smiled "you're welcome I would love to talk to you about skating" he said "you obviously have a strong passion for it" I nodded "yes it's just so beautiful, I love watching it it's probably one of the most beautiful things in the world. I especially love watching skaters like you and Viktor, you're both so beautiful when you skate, I looked up to the both of you for as long as I've loved skating, which has been awhile." I chuckled. I looked up at Yuri and noticed he was staring at me, I noticed that I had been rambling and I covered my mouth with my hands again "ah, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to ramble on like that!"
"No! No it's ok, I love the way you speak about ice skating, you really do love it." I felt my face turn a bright shade of red. "Ah, uh yeah ha I really do"
"It shows when you skate," my face grew even redder. "Ah, uh Th-thank you!" I blurted. I couldn't believe I was talking to Yuri Katsuki, this was amazing! He said I was amazing and he enjoyed listening to me talk about ice skating!"
"I would love to skate with you sometime" he said shrugging his shoulders and rubbing his neck with a grin. "That would be awesome" I said. Yuri looked back towards the ice rink "we could actually skate right now if you don't mind" I paused "uh, um y-ya that would be great actually!" I said following him to the rink. My mind was racing, this was the best day ever and it was only seven forty five! I was minutes away from skating with YURI KATSUKI! I was practically vibrating with excitement. I don't know if this day could possibly get any better.
