Dearest brother,
I think the thing I've appreciated most about you in my life is that when I'm depressed you have never given me reasons not to be. You never hovered or tried to overly comfort me because you understood when I needed comfort and when it was not wanted. Dad always tried to talk it out of me, mom always tries to comfort me in a way that really only reassures herself. But you, you never assumed that after one hug I'd be okay or that a few words would convince me my depression was misjudged. You simply accepted it and if I seemed open to it comforted me and if I welcomed them spoke words of encouragement. You are many things big brother and among them is the ability to read how to be a generous brother when i need you most.
Thank you
