"Someone help! Get a nurse!" A voice to my right yells. I feel someone grasp my right hand and whisper "It's okay Willow. Hold on." My eyes start to flutter and my vision is blurred. I can make out numerous human figures and I can hear the door opening and closing and a voice telling everyone to move.
"Willow. Can you hear me?" I open my mouth up to speak but no words come out. I keep blinking to try and gain my vision back but it doesn't work.
Before I know it I'm floating back into unconsciousness.

The next time I wake up I'm alone and this time I can see clearly. I take in my surroundings and spot a piece of paper on the white bedside table. I reach over to grab it and spot a familiar cursive handwriting. My eyes scan over the name written on the paper and I run my fingers across it.
I open up the paper and am astounded to find the same cursive writing filling the page. I begin reading,
"My Love,
I'm sorry I had to leave you but it was the only way I could be sure you'd have a future. I hope you can forgive me for what I have done. Don't you dare try and follow me as what I have done will have been in vain. I want you to move on, live your life to the fullest for the both of us. I know you will be upset and I understand but after a while I only want you to be sad for ten minutes a day, I expect my ten minutes too, and I want you to be sad but at every other time I want to see your beautiful smile from wherever I end up. I don't like goodbyes so I'm not going to make this one, instead, think of this more of a 'see ya later' when you're all grey and wrinkly.
From your fanged friend,
Oliver Keating"
A tear slides down my face as I fold the paper back up, slipping it back onto the table. Memories flash back into my mind. As I remember what I did in the bathroom at home I instantly look at my arm which has no scar, no bandage, nothing. At this thought a doctor calmly walks into my room, unlike last time I woke up. He comes over to me and places his clipboard on my bedside table.
"How long have I been in here for?" I ask, my throat dry and my voice hoarse. He looks at me with a strange look before taking in a deep breath.
"Not long." He says, about to walk out.
"How long?" I growl. He immediately stops and turns to look at me.
"6 months." At that, he walked out. I'm left with my mouth hanging open. 6 months?! How long ago did I last wake up? My mind spins as a familiar pair of eyes stare at me through the crack in the door.
"Aunty?" She slowly walks in, giving me a small smile.
"The doctors didn't think you would wake up. The power that boy had was unbelieveable. I can't say there is a record of one being possessing and harnessing enough power to do an energy transfer. Your body has been in shut-down for months, trying to figure out what to do with the newly founded energy." I watch as my aunt takes a seat in the white, cushioned chair beside my bed.
"How long until I can leave?" I ask gently.
"Can you walk?" My aunt asks.
"I'm not sure. I haven't tried." My aunt stands up and grabs my arm, helping me stand up. As soon as my feet are placed on the ground I lift up my right foot and place it down about 20cm ahead of me, I continue to do this. Left foot, right foot. Left foot, right foot.
"You should be good to go. You're walking fine, your heartbeat is normal and you don't look like you're dying." She presses the nurse's button on the remote beside my bed and a nurse comes rushing in just seconds later. "Is she alright to go home?" The nurse takes a good look at me and glances over to the machines. She slowly nods her head, seeming a bit unsure.
She unhooks me from all the machines and my aunty passes me a fresh shirt and shorts. I head over to the bathroom and close the door behind me, slipping out of my white hospital gown. When I walk back out the nurse leads me out into the foyer to where I have to check out. They inform us that there is no bill, as a man named Mafi had already paid it off. I mentally thank him as I follow my aunty to her car.
"We mustn't stay here much longer. You will go collect your things from the house and we must leave."
"Where are we moving to?" I ask, getting into the car.
"Across the country." She pushes the keys into the ignition and backs out of the carpark.
As we come to a stop at the familiar driveway I hop out of the car and rush inside the house, not bothering to knock. I head to the bedroom I once shared with who I thought was the love of my life and his foster siblings. I push back any tears that threaten to spill as I collect my belongings into the duffel bag that contained all my things when I first got here.
When I am finally sure I have everything I take one last look at the small, beatdown house and slip back into the car.
I grab out my phone and push my earphones into the hole, while opening up spotify. I click on my playlist called 'Forever' that contains a bunch of Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens and Get Scared, all of Olivers favourite songs. I lean back into the seat and close my eyes, preparing for the new life that awaits me on the other other side of the country.
It's at that moment, I wished for a hug, not an ordinary hug from anyone. But a bear hug from my Oliver.
