"Ready to go back to school, Alex?" said Dylan, a sarcastic tone in her voice. Due to our powers, most of us couldn't go to school, but since Alex and Vince haven't shown any powers, they had to go.
"Shut up, Dylan," Alex said as he sat down on the bed. It creaked a bit, sounding hollow. His depression showed in his 13-year-old face. Although I know school is the worst, I would actually like to go. Even though we're home schooled by Mrs. Artemis, I'd like to have the experience of learning in an actual classroom.
We spent the next few hours playing games and watching videos on our tablets. Most children didn't go outside and play during the horribleness of the political war. The Order's goons tend to pick on wandering children. Even though they're only supposed to apprehend dangerous Invertants, they usually take any person they can.
"It's not as bad as you think," said Dylan, with the same sarcasm she always has, "Being able to wake up and to do your school work whenever is just horrible."
Alex huffed and stood up. Walking over to and picking up his backpack, he opened the door. "Thanks for cheering me up, guys." Then Alex walked out of the Outhouse, most likely heading up to the Artemis house.
"Well now that that's over, we can finally talk about the Pegasus Trials," Isabeth said, glaring at Dylan. She didn't hate Dylan or anything, but she definitely didn't like it when she annoyed Alex. She looked back down to her tablet, "The Phoenixes have won the first trial." This was obvious from the silence at breakfast. The Phoenixes, the faction trying to outlaw us, tend to have the Supreme Council on their side. It would be pretty unlikely for the Pegasus to win the first trial.
A bang on the door silenced our conversation. Vince's shaggy, dark brown hair was visible from the door's window. I guess it was time to stop talking about political warfare.
"Well, I think Trix and I are gonna go
test her new power out," said Isabeth, walking out of the Outhouse with Trix. Vince stepped back to let them out, but then he came running up the stairs to hug me, his tiny, wooden broadsword on his back. I winked at Dylan, and she turned invisible. Uncontrollable laughter broke out from Vince as Dylan appeared behind him and tickled him."I surwender!" shouted Vince, desperately. Vince collapsed to the floor as Dylan let go. He stood back up. "Come on Dilwin and Caywub!"
Dylan and I looked at each other. "Fine," we said simultaneously.
