They were everywhere.

How could everybody else not see them?

They were crawling on top of everything, filthy and slimy. They covered every inch of their skin. They even crawled out of Professor Darley's mouth while he drawled on and on about a physics lesson nobody cared about.

They crawled on her neighbor's arm, clawing at her sleeve. The bloated, horrific creatures stared at her with black, inhuman, and furious eyes.

She couldn't breathe.

It was an infestation.

This was unprecedented.

It must've been 'Nurse Mandy' who had set them loose. But 'Nurse Mandy' wasn't going to win. She was going to make sure that every student in her school was safe. She was going to get rid of them.

The girl stood up, still feeling the creature's buggy eyes staring at her. She looked into Professor Darley's blank, empty, and unblinking eyes, and said, "I need to go, it's an emergency."

Professor Darley just blinked, feigning surprise at her outburst, but just tightly smiled, threatening her quietly with his own fangs.

So he was in league with 'Nurse Mandy'.

She would deal with that at another time.

For now, she had her work cut out for her.

She grabbed her army green bag and walked out of class, trying not to recoil in disgust at the sight of the monsters.

They can't know that I can see them, she thought.

If they do, they'll try to hurt me too.

So, as she walked out of the building, she could see and hear the monsters getting squashed by her boots, their bodies bloodied and bashed beyond recognition.

Hideous.

She shivered, and just walked out of the building, into the gray day, pretending that she couldn't see.
