The weather outside was cold and bitter. Trees were stripped of their warm colorful leaves and the welcoming appearance of the sun has vanished. It was replaced by little left over leaves falling to the ground so graceful and delicate. As I looked out the window cuddled up next to my boyfriend I couldn't help but have a feeling that something was out there.. Waiting for me.
"Hey, Babe. I have to go." Mike said picking my head up delicately and moving.
"Aww. So soon?" I said with a pouty face.
"I'm sorry." He said standing up. I sat up and sat with my legs crossed.
"Ok.." I said trying to look sad.
"I'll text you right when I get home. Ok?" He said placing his hand on my cheek. I allowed the warmth in his hand to engulf me and allow my heart to melt. He placed a kiss on my forehead and left. I let out a loud sigh and continued to stare out the window. I still have the feeling that something is out there..
I ran upstairs and grabbed my runner tights and sweatshirt. As I ran down stairs and I took the time to put on my sneakers and grabbed my phone. As I opened the door a gust of cold air hit me and that just made me feel more alive. I shut the door and started off into the woods for a jog. When I hit the pavement I placed my ear buds in my ears and allowed the music to take total control.
The whole jog I wasn't paying attention and ended up in the middle of the forest. I've never gone this deep before.. I took my ear buds out bad stuffed them in my sweatshirt pocket. I started to look around, trying to see if I could figure out where I had come from. Leaves were scattered all over the place and the wind was blowing harder now. My heart started to beat out of control.
"Calm down Jess. You'll find a way out." I said reassuring myself. Then out of the corner of my eye I see a pair of bright yellow eyes staring back at me. I stood there frozen.. Not able to move. The figure emerged from the bushes and stepped closer to me. I hesitantly stepped back. This beast was a wolf, but no ordinary one. It was at lest a foot taller than me on all fours. Who knows how tall it would be it were to stand on its hind legs.
