All Around Me

Chapter 3

Sherlock looks at Claire then outside, but a sniper was no where in sight. "I would like her back, you know." Moriarty says, almost carelessly. "Why? So you can torture her again?"

Moriarty laughs his humorless laugh, "I merely wanted some information, she refused. So, i did what I had to." Sherlock looks at Claire again, she was sitting straight, not a sense of panic or fear on her face. But her face was defiant, as if she wanted him to shoot.

"You had to kill her parents?" he says lowly, looking at John. He was standing, but he also had a red dot on his chest, similar to Claire's. Moriarty pauses, "It was payback."

Sherlock kept calm, although he was extremely agitated, angery. "Why?" Moriarty sighs, "Her father owed me quite a lot of money, which he did not return. So he deserved what he got." Sherlock shifts his gaze to Claire again, thinking of what it was like, hearing her parent's being murdered only a room away, to hear there desperate cries for help, but could do nothing. "And her mother?" he says.

"She just got in the way, she needed to be eliminated." Silence lasted for what seemed forever until Moriarty finally spoke, " Well, it was nice chatting with you, Holmes. Always a pleasure." and with that, he hung up, the red dots disappearing.

John exhaled, "What did he say?" Sherlock shook his head, "It doesn't matter, are you alright?" John nods, looking at Claire, "And you, Claire?" Her eyes tilted up to them, still blank, empty, "Yes, i'm fine." she stands up.

"Whenever he did the whole... gun thing, you didn't seem scared." Sherlock says. Claire turns, about to walk up the steps, her hand on the railing, "After you're tortured almost to death, nothing is scarier than that."
